Regarding:

#1. It's funny how subtle (and not so subtle) misogyny were in various beliefs. I used to inhabit various metaphysical/philosophical sites, and there's usually a huge devate over the inferiority of emotional nature over the intellectual in attainment of spiritual enlightenment, as old men drone on in dry big words. Of course, women were pointed out as the emotional sex.

#2. Silk flowers are amazingly realistic nowadays. Low maintenance. :oD

#3. Chrysanthemums are addictive if you ever do Sumi-e paintings. They are fun practice when you're trying to learn how to control the flow of ink and brushstrokes.

75460 Good going, Martin. I would read all seven volumes. The last volume has a wonderful wrap up and a final twist that is beautiful.

75460 Yay! I won't have to tear apart the second hardcopy to scan it. Thanks, P.

75460 I have two hardbacks but am still waiting for the eBook, if it will ever come out. I was going to tear one apart to turn it into a PDF so I can read, highlight and make notes easily, but that was too much work. Maybe get into a habit of doing a few pages at a time as I read it. The thought of doing all that and then the eBook coming out will throw me into a fit!

Wow! Happy birthday, Karen! I'd get married again just for that cake. NOT!

75460 Try going through a period of postmodernist literature. You'll find the usual structure boring. I'd say the postmodernist got a lot of their ideas from the Proust long sentences.

75460 I don't know how much difference I would have made. I'm not a Tweeter, so I don't have that many followers. P. is the one who's a serious Tweeter.

Thanks, Scribble, for the recommendation. I'll have to go to Amazon to search for his books. Yes, the big bad Amazon. Me, Amazon and Audible go back from their births. Lots of fond memories, the revolutionary way of getting a book, of reading or listening to a book... Kind of like family. You still love them even if they go bad.

Happy birthday, Marcelita! I love the anecdote about the sick Proust and the théâtrophone, considering that the reality of it is that it is no comparison to listening to the opera or symphony live. Proust, in the end, reconciled the reality with his illusion so that he "hears" in his mind the beautiful Wagner opera and the Beethoven symphony in its full glory. And so the real théâtrophone is his imagination.
