The Invincible Miss Cust by Penny Haw
A book based on the life of Aleen Cust, Britain's first female veterinary surgeon. Enjoyed this historical fiction to a great extent. Definitely recommended to hist-fic fans.

To Fill a Yellow House by Sussie Anie
Works in bits and pieces. But not for everyone, and wasn't much for me.

The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak
Expected a lot more from this one. Some thing were good, some were just weird.

Just Another Meat-Eating Dirtbag: A Memoir by Michael Anthony
Enjoyed this graphic novel memoir much more than I had expected. Thought-provoking and funny.

The Lindbergh Nanny by Mariah Fredericks
Nice enough, but I expected more, I guess. It didn't affect me the way I thought it would.

Blood Atonement by S.M. Freedman
Don't go by the drab cover. The story is mind-blowing. Not for everyone though. Check out the triggers.

The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat by Oliver Sacks
Had this on my agenda since ages. Interesting content, but the writing style didn't click well with me.

The Christmas Hummingbird by Davis Bunn
Not exactly as I had expected. But I loved the parts about hummingbirds!

Saha by Cho Nam-Joo
Finally a second translated work by the author of Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982. Unfortunately, this one falls somewhat flat, but it is a decent read for lit-fic lovers.

Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry
A hardhitting memoir by the actor known for his role as 'Chandler Bing' on FRIENDS. Quite intense. But needs a round (or more) of editing.

The Secret of Matterdale Hall by Marianne Ratcliffe
An entertaining Gothic mystery. Loved the rep.

Tried two free short stories from authors' websites. Both were indie works. Both were light fantasies. And both were awesome! Suitable for ages 9+. Do try!1. The Monster in the Closet by Ukranian author Anton Eine

2. Not All Dragons Breathe Fire by US author Naomi Lastrucci

Yet another memorable novella by the Irish author. Loved the emotional impact this creates.

When the Angels Left the Old Country by Sacha Lamb
A Jewish historical fantasy that works pretty well. I enjoyed this unusual story despite struggling a bit with the Yiddish terms.

A Hit!Signal Moon by Kate Quinn
Loved how well she tackled the story within just a few pages.

Expected a lot more from this indie historical fiction.

No Such Thing by Nissa Harlow
A YA adaptation of 'Beauty & the Beast'. Pretty well done, especially for an indie author, and will work for the target age group.

Written in the Stars: A Charity Anthology by various authors.
A Christmas-themed anthology that will donate its profits to two charities. Enjoyed most of the stories. Do buy.

The Visit by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
An unusual speculative fiction short story that's satirical in its approach. I liked how it portrayed a woman-dominated world.
