Unnatural Creatures: A Novel of the Frankenstein Women by Kris Waldherr
A retelling of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein from the perspective of the women in Victor Frankenstein's life. Very interesting!

Tomb Sweeping by Alexandra Chang
An interesting collection of tales based on Chinese or Chinese-American experiences. I would have enjoyed it better had I liked the endings,

One Christmas Morning by Rachel Greenlaw
An interesting debut work, but don't expect lighthearted Christmassy feels. It is quite intense. Think Groundhog Day + A Christmas Carol.

The Rachel Incident by Caroline O'Donoghue
I didn't find it funny as the blurb claimed it to be, but it was a good coming-of-age literary fiction.

Kafka: A Graphic Novel Adaptation by Nishioka Kyoudai
Do you like both Kafka and manga? Then this is for you.

Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
I seem destined to be the outlier on most major prize-winning books, and this is no exception. A retelling of Charles Dickens' David Copperfield, but highly stereotypical. Mine is an outlier opinion.

Those We Thought We Knew by David Joy
A literary crime drama as brilliant and as poignant as its title!

Scrap by Kathy Biggs
Great for literary fiction fans who enjoy a dash of magical realism in their novels.

Love Deleted: Are you sure you want to erase your love? by Paul Indigo
The writing style took me a while to get tuned to, but the plot is just amazing! Reminiscent of the movie 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', though not exactly the same.

My Pen Is the Wing of a Bird: New Fiction by Afghan Women
An anthology of stories written by Afghan women. Poignant!

The Last List of Mabel Beaumont by Laura Pearson
A lovely book that I would have liked even better had I not read another novel with a similar storyline.

Remember, Mr Sharma by A.P. Firdaus
Indian historical fiction with a talking vulture. Interested? ;)

At the Coffee Shop of Curiosities by Heather Webber
A sweet magical realism story. And when I saw 'sweet', I mean 'overly saccharine sweet'. Works well for the plot, so no major complaints.

Every Rising Sun by Jamila Ahmed
An Arabian Nights spinoff centred on Scheherazade (or Shaherazade, as she is called in this version.) A great attempt, but too ambitious for a debut novelist. You might fare better with it if you don't know much about the original. I did.

Midsummer's Mayhem by Rajani LaRocca
A middle-grade retelling of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.' An ambitious debut that gets it mostly right.

Fotinoula and the Christmas Goblin by R.G. Fraser-Green
Loved this indie MG dark fantasy. Perfect for homes and schools.

Death, the Gardener by Daniel T. Dodaro
I can see this working way better for me had I been two decades younger. Still, a pretty good story. Not written for YAs but will surely be a bigger hit with them.

The Door-to-Door Bookstore by Carsten Henn
A good book with an average ending. The 'book about books' aspect is superb.

A Boy Named Rose by Gaëlle Geniller
Adored the illustrations and liked the story in this historical graphic novel about a boy who dances in the cabaret in Paris.
