Hi Cassandra! (I hope I'm not too late for Q&A, haha)

1) When you first began writing City of Bones, did you plan on introducing all the new characters in the later books that you did (Aline, Maia, etc)? Or maybe a better Q would be if you knew they were going to be important (especially Maia) or just sort of made it up as you wrote?

2) Also, which characters in your books (Including Clockwork Angel) are/were supposed to be flat? Vs round? Or did it end up changing? I know it happens with my books--I intend for certain characters to be flat, but they end up playing a bigger part anyway.

3) Are there any foils, like Gabriel Lightwood to Will?

Sorry these are uninteresting Qs, I'm just curious...and I absolutely love your books b/c they're so realistic and...spell binding! :) Like I would get caught up in them and never be able to put them down xD

Random: Does Jace/Will know the craft of Swordfighting/fencing really well? Would it be possible for Tessa to start fighting/training like a shadowhunter? Oh, and I'm really surprised that your books are coming out so fast, practically two a year! That's amazing (: And I'm really glad :D

I want to thank you for writing the MI & CA series, because they're absolutely amazing! I can't wait for Clockwork Princess and City of Fallen Angels! I can't say I'm exactly surprised that you'll be killing one of the main characters off (I've heard?), but that doesn't mean I'm happy about it! :( I guess it does make your books more realistic though (not that the Shadow World...well yeah).

I have a question: How can a cat (Church) be immortal? Can immortality be achieved? Because in CA he was just a regular cat. And how did he get from the institute in london to the one in NY? I realize that this probably isn't very important, but I wonder if Jem or Will could achieve immortality in the same way. Also, keep writing! You're one of my favorite authors ever!! <3333

Thanks for answering all these questions, this is awesome! :) I'm curious though, do you have a favorite young adult book (something your readers might read)? You mentioned the Hunger Games in one of your earlier answers, so that got me wondering, haha.

Sometime during the book, wasn't Jem's cane broken in the first automaton attack on the Institute? In the later chapters it appeared whole again, so that got me a bit confused.

Also, Will's character is so distant! :O

I heard about the second TMI trilogy, and I'm excited, but having watched the Maximum Ride series go through a period of descend, I'm afraid another three books might ruin the first TMI trilogy because the first TMI books were somewhat centered around Clary & Jace's love life and Valentine's...evilness, and now that both problem's are solved, what will happen to the series? I'm sorry to be so blunt, but I seriously love your books and couldn't bear it if they were to...descend to the level of ordinariness.

Oh, and I just finished the Clockwork Angel this morning! Yay (:
