I posted our Jackanory - great job Carrie!!I will be finishing my last two task books tomorrow - skeleton on cover and camera on cover. I'll finish my last BINGO book on Friday.
Rina is finishing her last two task books and will post them by Friday.
Audrey Jane - how are you doing with your rodent on cover book?
Carrie, if you weren't able to read for a golem, I finished a book I haven't posted yet with a Golem as the MC and in the title. Just let me know if you need me to cover that spot.
Everyone, we have until Saturday night to wrap up any BOMs or other books we are reading for this challenge. I've had a blast working with all of you!!
TEAM ROB ANYBODY'S DEVIL MAY CAREThe devil went down to Georgia; he was looking for a soul to steal.
Charlie Daniels took the one he wanted so now he needed to find a new one and he knew just the place - the local residential reform academy. The devil was prepared to do whatever was necessary to get his way though. A trained mercenary, he had malice and murder on his mind.
Things didn’t go quite as expected; they hardly ever do. Upon his arrival, the devil was immediately attacked by a slobbering group of aliens. He was interrupting their baseball game and they had no time for his antics. In fear for his life, the devil hired a hard ass lawyer who owed him a favor or two and told her to take care of the mutants. The lawyer had better things to do with her time though so she sent them to an ivy league school knowing no one would even notice.
After talking with his therapist by phone, the devil decided to move forward with his soul-stealing plan. His quietly approached the school, evil intentions in his mind once again. Little did the devil know, he was about to meet his match! From out of nowhere, a 30-year-old lonely woman with a glass of Merlot in her hand jumped on his back and told him she’d been waiting all her life to meet him. The devil said, “Ma’am, most people do everything they can to avoid me.” She replied, “Well I’m not most people.”
The devil started thinking this might be an easy soul to steal when suddenly the woman started talking about marriage and the perfect husband. The devil started shaking in his red leather boots! He was looking for a soul, not a wife! What was with this crazy lady? She must have had had too much Merlot.
The devil quickly decided he should just head on back to where he came from and come up with a new plan when the drunken woman cast a magical love spell on him. Good grief. He unknowingly picked a reform school that specializes in magic and spells.
The devil suddenly found himself dressed to the nines in a black tuxedo. His bride to be was grabbing student hostages to witness their Blood Wedding. A band of demons playing fiddles accompanied the woman as she walked down the aisle to stand at the side of her groom. At the alter, Alfred Hitchcock recited their vows. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Hitchcock announced that his Speak of the Devil book would soon be released and encouraged all the students to buy it.
A short time later however, the love spell began to fade away. The devil found himself and his new bride on an isolated island in the middle of nowhere with no means of escape. All the devil could think about from that time forward was how he was going to get even with that damn Charlie Daniels!
I think my favorite part of the Jackanory was where the drunk aliens went to an ivy university as know one would really notice them there :)
JACKANORY!!!Carrie did a great job writing a story for us - you can find it here.
Please post in this thread if you have any thoughts, edits, etc. by Thursday July 29th. We'll post the final version in our sheet by the 30th and post it in the main Jackanory thread for all to enjoy.
Okay I'm going to take a stab at the JACKANORY over the next two days. I'll post it Tuesday morning (my time) and then if you can give feedback by Wednesday night (your time) I can updated and have it in our sheet by Thursday night.Louise, do you know by any chance if we have to post it anywhere else? If not, don't worry about it - I'll figure it out.
@Carrie - thanks. I'm still probably going to read my golem book but if I don't finish in time it's good to know you have it covered.@Audrey Jane - awesome. I was born in Kansas City, MO so not too far from where I was born. I'm hoping to search down some of my father's family and re-connect with them. I just love DC comics, Superman has a huge statue downtown, and the people around here are real laid back. And since I tele-commute I can work for anywhere. Plus, my daughter was having problems finding jobs in Maryland, and she's already got two from when we moved.
@Yasmin - I know I've been scoping the house for a good book nook. There's a room in the main floor with a bay winder - but it's also going to serve as the formal dining and music room - so probably not that. There is another smaller room upstairs with a couple of windows, room for a nice chair and a couple of bookcases. I think that's where I'm leaning right now. And it's right outside my bedroom door.
@Coleen, thank you very much!
That was me, sorry! I fixed the data validation on the spreadsheet so we should be good to go. I did notice that the name wasn't changed in Post #1 so I'll ask about that.
Hey everyone!! I finally got to my new home in southern Illinois, and am waiting for my stuff to get here. I really love it so far and am glad I made the move. But, I am exhausted!!I'll be looking things over tomorrow to see what we need to get done this last week. I haven't read through the messages yet, but hope someone is helping to volunteer to write the Jackanory. If you are interested, let me know!!
Have a great rest of your weekend.
