I'm reading The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch , I'd say world would fit astronomy

35559 I'm on chapter 9 now and super happy that wasn't actually a prologue. I like the shift from one perspective to another every chapter. What to you think about the characters so far?

(view spoiler)
35559 Plus if I'm buying into that story, it's super jarring to go into another one!
35559 I just read the first chapter too. It made be super intrigued, but it felt so prologue-y. Prologues have got to be one of my top pet peeves in SFF
35559 I think my favorite reveal was

I finished this book this morning. I really liked it, but I have to admit I knew who the murderer was before the first even happened. I generally do, though. I read way the heck to many Christie mysteries when I was like 12 and I think I absorbed all the ways murderers can be handled in a story.
35559 I'll probably start off pretty slow, because I'm in the middle of about 9 million books right now.
35559 I am just starting this one. I think I'm on Chapter 2, which is funny because I'm already a fair percentage into the book. What do you guys think about the novella trend that has been going on recently?

I'm always nervous when I start a book this size the end is going to be super rushed, or the world building cut for words.

So far though, I really love the world in this, so that's one fear down.

35559 ditto
35559 worse....I have it in paperback. I think i'll have to do kindle or risk cracking the spine ever two pages.

Dear Rose,
your thread is HERE"

Thanks :)
35559 I'm tempted by this. I've had the book for years, but I keep putting it off.

Am I right?
Then I think we should complete that one asap =P"

I agree. I also think we should make a list of the tasks that are going to be the most difficult to complete, and assign them. For a lot of them though, we can just read naturally.

Do we have to finish a whole class to get points from it?
35559 I think I might jump into this one tonight. I just realized a got a copy from the TOR.com bookclub and never read it

35559 Dear Mods,

May we have a thread for The Black Prism (Lightbringer, #1) by Brent Weeks starting May 19th?
35559 I know some people who think it's the best book ever, and some people who just mutter about whale oil when it's mentioned. I'm curious which side i'll be on.
