35559 Anyone still here? I finally finished a book that was a bit of a spot, so I'm in the mood to come back to this one.
35559 That's odd. I think my audiobooks was 25 hours.

35559 I found a book I can read for Get a large pot: Read a brown cover book with 500+ pages

The Blade Itself (The First Law, #1) by Joe Abercrombie

TinEye says very very brown. lol

I don't know. I feel like this book is written more towards heroic than epic fantasy.
35559 I'm sticking around too. I'm not sure if I'll continue on with the series. I know there are five books, which I'm not sure I'm up for based on this one. I liked the writing style for the most part, but I feel like the pacing was off, and not very strategic if that makes sense? It felt like it would have been better off being 200 pages shorter.

As for the characters, Kip was my favorite. I think if he were the major focus I'd continue on. Gavin was good in the beginning, but I feel like he had the potential to be a bad ass and it's just kinda gets away from that. I have a feeling a lot of the next books are going to be him getting bested by his father/various schemers.
35559 I finished! I'm still not sure who the main character was.....

35559 I'm reading First Watch (The Fifth Ward #1) by Dale Lucas which has a ton of magic races; so far Dwarves, orcs, and elves.

It also has some cover elements which we could use for other classes.
35559 As I'm reading it I am wondering if I care enough about a second book. I really like Kip's scenes, but I don't know if I'm committed to the plot. I feel like 40% of the way through the first book, it should make me care more.

I haven't gotten very far, either. I've been reading other books.
35559 Major Spoiler (Chapter 35)

(view spoiler)
35559 I'm about 30 percent in. at around chapter 20 there is an info dump that actually makes the colors make more sense.

As far as the story goes I have the strangest feeling though that

LOL. SURPRISE GENRE!

I have Jack in a full on Zuit suit in my head and that keeps flashing in every-time she's mentioned (especially fixing her bow-tie). It's adorable head canon, and probably why I liked the character so much.

If you we could use it against ghosts and basically anything that needs beheading/stabby stabby

The Star Trek nerd in me heavily resents this. lol. Not a hardcover, sadly. It's a snowy river on the cover, so it might work for banishing or water spell though.

Lol. I wonder if we could use Down Among the Sticks and Bones any say it was a sharp stick and a weak vampire.

A world isn't a celestial body?
35559 I've just started this. I was going to hold out, but I couldn't resist finding out what the heck happened with Jack and Jill. It's amazing how horrifying I find the parents. I think I'd pick a vampire over them any day.
35559 I failed at reading yesterday. I'm hoping to read a large chunk tonight, though.
