I haven't read her yet. I'm hopeful I'll try her someday. I just haven't read any descriptions that truly appeal to me yet. But she has been getting some good reviews.
Yes, I know what you mean about being the same. The writers today do seem very tame with a few exceptions. I think writers like Lisa Kleypas and Elizabeth Hoyt and Pamela Clare manage to make it work.
Most of the elements don't bother me, except for some of the extreme bodice rippers that have multiple partners and heroes that are excessively abusive and never redeem themselves. Normally the "forced seductions" don't bother me. Even some of the obvious rapes don't always bother me. I know they should though. In real life it would be another story. But in fiction I can handle it.I like some of the newer PC historicals but I agree they don't have the authentic feel to them.
Bodice rippers from days gone by often contained elements that were NOT politically correct. Does it bother you when you read a book from the past that contains some of these elements? What elements bother you? Are the books today really PC? So what's your opinion on the whole PC thing?
LOL, Lady D, I chose to use what I was like when I was young in my teens and early 20s. Me now is different.Me today would be more outspoken and more aware of what makes me happy and satisfied. More confident of me being me. Might be good for a western. Strong, older woman who knows what she wants and not afraid to go after it.
I'd probably be a shy wallflower, naive with stars in my eyes, easily taken advantage of. A bit klutzy at times and nose in a book whenever possible. But those silly romance books more so than a book of substance. I would believe in love but have no idea about how to find a guy to fall in love with. A great listener because I rarely open my mouth to say much. Some would think me stuck up but those who know me know that's not true. Those fortunate to get to know me would find me to be quite charming with a sarcastic sense of humor, even known to do a few pranks on close family members or friends. Probably set in Regency or Victorian era. This is written in a hurry so I may come back with something better later ☺
My dog isn't fond of them either and whines. Poor thing. Luckily it's only twice a year we get a lot of fireworks around here. New Year's Day and The Fourth of July.
Lady Danielle aka The Book Huntress wrote: "What did you like so much about Luke, Pamela?"I liked that he stood by Ali. He allowed her to stay with him when she became homeless. He believed in her innocence. He was a wonderful hero.
I know it's just a few that have ruined what I believe the US stands for. There are so many good, wonderful people that still exist here. I truly pray the good will prevail.
Obviously, I think of our independence and the people who started it all (Paul Revere, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, John Hancock, etc) but I also think of the men and women who continue to fight for it, our armed forces. So many sacrifices to keep us free. But I'm sad at what the US is becoming.
Trade it. I'd be tempted if it was just a day or two but you didn't specify so no.2 weeks on the Amazon River
