definitely is not. Sadly, my daughter doesn't read and avoids websites like Goodreads.
I'm not a fan of the drama queens/kings myself but I rarely come across them. Any groups I've left have been mainly because they were inactive or I lost interest in them. I try to avoid groups that I think have the potential for too much drama but that is a hard one to predict. I never announce my departure either.
For me, it's hard to read when I'm bored of it and just can't get invested in the plot or characters. Overly descriptive is hard too. Easy would be when the plot is interesting to me and moves at a good pace. The characters are likable and the suspense is tense and edge of your seat. Or is a humorous story then if its actually funny.
Thanks for sharing, Katerina! I enjoyed reading it. As a parent I do think the media has great influence and I know its up to me and my hubby to put forth our values and beliefs and hope we manage to have some of what we say take root.

lol. I sometimes think that we are being brainwashed to a degree. Trying to convince us that certain brands or designer names are important. I often prefer the heroines that live in jeans and tshirts. No brand names mentioned. But it can work to an advantage regarding education and being a good and kind person.
While doing foster care I met many other foster families. Most every one I met were so nice and caring.
I did foster care for several years and I don't like the way most are portrayed in books. But I don't mind the theme itself. I just wish people would put more research into the foster care system before they write about it.

I don't think you see as much sexism and chauvinism in today's books. (Yes, there are exceptions). But it depends on the book on how I feel about it. In a historical romance I will expect a measure but I also expect the hero to redeem himself. In contemporary romance, we are turning into a more politically correct people, so I expect the hero to treat the heroine accordingly. Regardless of the genre of romance I do expect the hero to treat the heroine with respect.
Yes, Emily, I'd hate it if one talked down to the other. But I have read books where one was a genius of sorts and they didn't talk down to the other.
