temptationsTrying to lose this weight and be healthier and the holidays will present a multitude of delectable temptations that will be extremely hard to deny.
I did 10 yrs in the Navy and I have to admit I mostly don't like the idea of a woman SEAL. I think there are exceptional women out there that may make a great SEAL but they are rare. However, if a woman goes through the training and makes it just like a man is required to do without concessions made for their gender then I believe they are entitled it. I just see a lot of problems for the Navy. Men will not be receptive and what women do make it will have problems fitting in.In literature, I like the kick-butt woman heroine. The idea of a Navy SEAL woman in literary form may be slightly more appealing than real life. The author would more than likely sugarcoat the situation and make it seem more appealing than it really is.
I wonder if the age of the reader makes a difference? I'm in my 50s so the books written in the 70, 80, etc are time periods I'm familiar with and lived through.
I do have certain books that do not stand the test of time but rarely is it because of the dated feel of them. There are a lot of older bodice ripper type novels I loved at one time but now are like "meh". These include some of Johanna Lindsey, Catherine Coulter, Rosemary Rogers, etc. However, there are many that I still love, like The Flame and The Flower, Prisoner of my Desire, and The Black Lyon, to name a few.
love the costume, Kim! lolI have done some nifty costumes in the past but never anything scary. I won $100 for my caveman costume one year (many, many, many years ago). No one knew it was me. I walked hunched over and had a mask on.
I like some scary. I don't do the Horror genre but I do like some suspense/scary elements to some degree to keep me at the edge of my seat for a bit. As long as everything has the HEA and happy happy at the end.I don't do much for Halloween. My daughter will dress up and go out but I'd just as soon stay in and enjoy at home. No costumes for me. I have dressed up in the past and gone to parties and such but I guess I grew out of it.
With Halloween coming, I thought I'd ask those readers who love a little scare in their books - How scary do you like it? Hide under the covers scary? Sleep with the light on scary? Have nightmares for weeks after scary? Or maybe you prefer to forgo the scare element altogether?BTW, who is dressing up for Halloween and as what?
One of my faves, Judy! Its part of a series and though it stands alone well I would still recommend reading the series in order because you get to know the characters in each.
Judy wrote: "Goge (BARRONS) le Moning Maniac, wrote: "Pamela(AllHoney) wrote: "“All right, then,” she snapped, “do as you please! Perhaps afterward we could manage a coherent discussion.” Twisting beneath him, ..."Lisa Kleypas Love in the Afternoon
Love Elizabeth Hoyt. She has a bunch set in 1700s. Not going to list them all but here are the first books in 2 of her series...
To Taste Temptation first book in the Legend of the Four Soldiers series
The Raven Prince first book in the Princes series
Big NCIS fan. I guess I'm obssessed. I'm obssessed right now with getting healthy. No, I'm not sick but I am large and not lovin' it.
I'm really trying NOT to be obssessed with food.
Can't think of any real obssessions other than my hero harem.
With the wild west theme, I keep thinking of Mrs Barkley of The Big Valley,a TV show from the 1960s. A strong woman!
