Sounds to me like everyone is doing really good :) I'm reading my third ARC right now. But they're all new! I feel like I'll need to make a topic or a challenge where we all read our old ARCs only :D
Well, the recommended ratio IS 80%, so even if you miss some you can still reach it :) there was one I also missed because it was pdf-only! And then I forgot it xD it was when I'd just signed up. Whoops...
Congrats Lucy!! I've just finished two, both were ARCs :) but I need to buckle up and make up for that slow September of mine!Is anyone participating in SciFi Month in November? I have some amazing scifi ARCs this month that I'm going to read for that.
imyril wrote: "The ARC I’m most geeked out about is Gnomon by Nick Harkaway. I’ve loved all his books - his combination of madcap adventure and commentary on our times and technology are catnip for me."Haven't heard of that one! Making me curious :)
Welcome to the group Katie! That's not a very daunting number, but hopefully you'll be able to cut it down with our help :)
Sam, yes! E-books are perfect for commutes! I would also always bring my kindle when I had to go on long commutes cause I would always feel like I would "run out" :DCaro, welcome!
I actually don't know about the Kobo. Because if it's not the kindle, it's usually a DRM protected file that runs out. So maybe that's why? Also? Mel, I live in Lithuania :D there is NO SERVICE here :D I had to jump through loopholes to even get a kindle xD it's really good anyway, I don't know what I'd do without it :)
But I'm glad you at least have a backup plan with the kindle app now :)
I'm glad you love it! You can still link up to this month's one, it's been like a week only! The problem for me with ARCs usually is that I don't fail to read current ARCs (cause deadlines), it's the old and overdue ones that are the problem :D motivation = zero!
Hahaha good question :D I do. I wonder how others pronounce it?It's like how that one time we found out that most people pronounce YA as "why - a" and not "yah" like me and my other friend did :D
Sarah, I don't read romance, but even I know about Nora Roberts :D she IS a celebrity! Congrats, that is an awesome grab!!Sam, congrats about getting that one. It's awesome that you get print books, I am ever so jealous :D
Adele - ooh, the Diabolic? Haven't read that series, but I've heard a lot about it. I hope you enjoy!
Ooh, this is gonna be a long one... But rest assured that I have answered everyone personally :DHi Lucy, and I am sure I will be requesting new ARCs as well :D my goal here is to knock down some old ARCs while I'm at it, hahaha! Welcome :)
Welcome Lindsay! I am feeling better already because it seems all of you have a lot of ARCs too :D I only have 2 paper ARCs though, cause INTERNATIONAL ;___; reading one of them right now!
Hi Sarah, and welcome - I am a mood reader too, which is why I have this ARC problem in the first place, I think :D don't worry, I have 90+ ARCs! We are here to help :D yes, you should totally not count unsolicited. Those are not your fault!! I am also not kidding myself, I will not stop requesting :D but! I will think better before requesting ;)
Hi Sam, welcome and it's absolutely fine to lurk :) you can still come here and chat with us even if you don't read along. And brag about any new ARCs you get! There is a special topic for that :) if we are not able to read them, at least we can show them off!
Hi Dani, I'm so glad to see you here joining us :) you're right, the already published ones... When I click "request" I'm all like "well that's a goner..." But at the same time! It's not like I can let them go, huh?? Think of the losses! :D
Hi Anna (imyril), I am so glad you joined cause I keep thinking I should interact with you and your blog more, but the time keeps going somewhere :D #guilt lol. So I'm so glad that you're joining us here! Some of mine are also a year old :D you are not alone!
Mel! Wow! You actually have more than me! Well, I think you might need to stop going to NetGalley because it's for the best :D But I also have 500+ books, although most are ebooks (which is good in this case). I also did the math several months ago, and I'm like... Well, this is going to take a few years, probably.. :D no worries. At least we're all together in this now :D
Thanks for joining everyone and don't forget to vote in the poll! It ends on Sunday :) on Monday we are all picking out book to read this month and sharing and putting them on our group shelf :)
Lauren and Sheila, I've seen a few reviews of The Last Namsara already! No worries, you can always join next months theme 😊
I am so happy you love the name xD I needed the pun, I simply needed it there 😂 I will be very excited for you to join!
Hi Grace, welcome! We are all bookworms here, and bookworms are all at least a little socially awkward 😃 I'm sure you'll fit right in 😊Hi Lili, you don't have to count! Let's hope we can at least knock ONE brick off that wall in October though 😂
Adele! Welcome, and let me tell you something that will change your life forever 😃 you don't have to have expired ARCs anymore! Anything downloaded to a kindle, even if it's the kindle PHONE APP will never expire! So if you don't have a regular kindle, just download the phone app, click send to kindle on NetGalley and never lose your ARC again 😃 (dang that sounded like an infomercial...)
And hi Shawn, welcome! The first step to bliss (or hell...) would be to count your ARCs 😃
We might as well share our ARCs now that we've got them.** side-effects of really wanting to go download mentioned ARCs may manifest. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Let me start! I received a really cool ARC on Monday, one I've wanted for a half a year! This is it:
It's the latest in the series Industrial Magic, and I bet you can already tell from the name that it's amazing! Basically, it's Victorian England, but magic is also a... thing. Unfortunately, if you're found out to be a mage, you're taken away from your family, prohibited to ever make a family (because the establishment fears the power of your offspring). The good thing about it is that at least it pays well. And they use magic for all industrial things! Basically, steam trains and cotton mills can't run without magi making it run. It's an amazing world!
Other than that, the protagonist is this kickass lady who hides the fact that she's a mage because she wants a family and freedom. It's basically an urban fantasy with steampunk elements!
The story of how I got this ARC was pretty amazing as well. Last year I had to buy my copy cause I was declined. This year I was like, I wonder? And so I requested it and crossed my fingers. And I got approved! 3 minutes after I was, I log into NetGalley all excited and find its been.. archived? It comes out in two weeks! 😂 so I wrote the publicist and was like, they'll never reply.. they never do. And yet! She emailed me back several times until she solved my problem with a personal invitation to download! It was an amazing change from last year, and so inspiring.
Long story short? I've already read it, need to write the review soon and fit it into my tight blog schedule! But I can truly TRULY recommend this series, please check it out! Here's the first book if I got you hooked with that description:
And here is my review for the first book:

On Monday I will announce the winner theme, and then we will all pick a book from our pile, share it with the group and start reading!!
Welcome, Lauren! Nice to meet you. I hope you can have fun and also cut down on those ARCs :) don't forget to vote in the poll for picking out October theme :)
