Hope wrote: "Can you tell me why you gave up? Was it boring? Unbiblical?"I, too, ordered hoping to join you guys. I'm very interested in both Renee's reason for abandoning the book and Hope's immediate reaction. I should have mine in a couple of days.
I generally like books that are concise. This one had long boring sections. But it has changed my perspective, and hence, my life. The book ties authentic prayer to fasting... whether we abstain from eating food, watching TV, or indulging in a bad habit. The author contends that only when our hunger for God exceeds our hunger for consuming what the world can provide, can we truly appreciate and enjoy what God has to give us from the bounty of His creation. The book would be a good resource for a small study or discussion group. It should be read reflectively.

Thanks Hope. Since it isn't a template, I'll probably just list my books and add new titles as I commit. Your information was what I was looking for. I too have ordered "Earthen Vessels" and hope to catch up with you and Renee after I finish "A Hunger for God". I'll finish the latter and pick up the former next week. Best regards.
I'm new to goodreads.com and I'm still trying to get my bearings. I've engaged with some great people, and 2 not so great maybe, on this and one other community page for avid readers. The other site is easy to post to, start a new discussion on, or chime into. I can't figure out how to post my reading plan on the template for this site, and the only two people I reached out to in the group who were open to sharing with me don't know either. Can someone please generate something that tells me how to get the list uploaded so I can plug in my books, or are we supposed to set it up from scratch? Many thanks.

Thanks for the prompting. I just finished my first official read and I'll order it from Amazon tonight. Good thought.

Hello. My name is Eric and I read and write Christian books. I stumbled onto goodreads last weeks and liked what I saw, so I joined. In exploring the site I ran across this group and liked what I saw, so I joined.I spend most of my reading time in the Bible and attendant commentaries and supplements. I write so much I don't take time to read. I hope engagement in this group will enhance my reading discipline. I look forward to learning the goodread ropes.
