What a roller coaster of an afternoon. I normally go out with my mom for groceries on days like today but she was sick as well. I decided to suck it up and walk to the grocery store as I was supposed to walk today. Got my groceries, some Halls for my throat, and walked home netting me a round trip of 4km. I sucked on a Halls on the way home and by the time I got home I was feeling fantastic. I was then eating a snack when I tiny piece of food tried falling down the wrong pipe triggering a massive coughing session and I feel like I'm almost back to where I was this morning. On a side note I really hope this is not going to be the norm for getting sick. I don't know if it's because I'm getting old or this cold I got was a particular nasty one but normally I can shake things in about 24 hours. This is now day three of what ever this is and while it I am getting better it just wont go away. I'm sitting here sounding like that little old lady at the bingo hall that smokes 10 packs a day.
I just started this and I'm feeling it so far. Is it weird that I can relate to the murder robot? I don't want to deal with humans, I just want to be left alone with my hobbies.
I'm reading Butts and oh man I am not enjoying this book right now. It started out alright but then it just kind of fell off. I'm now in a section where the author is talking about Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian and oh boy what fun this is. These are my favorite people in the whole wide world and I love reading about them. *insert massive amounts of sarcasm here *Why do I always seem to start the year with a dud of a book? I swear last year started the same way as well.
This is a good reason for not interacting with people. I've caught something and I just feel off. I don't feel horrible but I feel off. A bit of a cough and my skin feels too small. I'm getting better though. I'm already feeling better than I was last night and better than I did this morning. Still not a pleasant start to the year though.
I was up but it wasn't really planned. With my vacation I've been staying up later as it is. I also watched the Laid Back Camp movie last night and when that was done it was something like 11:30 so I figured I'd just stay awake until midnight.
In December I save a whopping $978.28 bringing my final total up to $7,338.27. That just highlights how important the library is.
Give me nearly three weeks off in a month and I end up reading a crazy amount. I finished reading 57 books in December.5 Stars

I've got a few things I'm looking forward to. Probably top of the list is finally starting
. I've been hearing about this book for years and now I'm finally going to sit down and give it a go.
Alright, my final update of 2022. I basically took the week to just relax and read a lot of me reads this week.
-4 StarsI'm now caught up again on the Kuma series or at least until the 5th of January. 11.5 was a collection of various short stories from the first nine volumes in the series. From my understanding these were all bonus stories that were sold in various stores as a bonus add on to the base novel. These stories were basically big events from various points in the story so far but instead of from the POV of the MC is from the POV of a different character. Some of them were pretty good and got a chuckle from me and some were just kind of meh. Volume 12 was a big one for me because this is where I finally get into some new content. I was originally following fan translations of the web novel back in the day before it got picked up for publication here in NA. The fan translations stopped right after the festival arc and we got just a hint of the next arc. Volume 12 finishes up the festival arc and we get more of a set up for the next arc. I'm super stoked for the next volume as this will be all brand new material for me and what should be a return to more adventuring.
-3 StarsI'm super stoked to see season two of the anime starting here in the next week. I took some time this week to check out some more books in the series and to get a peek at what is coming up in the anime. These two books were kind of week honestly. Especially after what happened in volume 4. Volume 4 had this massive PVP battle in the game where you got to see Maple reveal her skills and just wipe the floor with her opponents. Volume 5 and 6 were basically two short volumes where the various characters checked out new content in the game, leveled up, gained some new skills, and just kind of messed around in the game. It's super chill and not a lot happens which isn't bad but after the last volume it just kind of felt like filler content. Sure Maple unlocked some new skills but it was nothing amazing like Machine God, Hydra, or Seeping Chaos. It even more frustrating when you get to the end of volume 6 and the story just stops mid event. They are working through this super difficult dungeon and after the second boss fight the book just ends. Give me more stuff like the dungeon and less filler feeling material please.
-5 StarsI'm now caught up on the Hidden Legacy series until we get new content, if we get new content. This was another solid book in the series and just a great read. There were a few plot points that felt like they got a little rushed in the end just so they could be wrapped up but it wasn't horrible. Like many others I am now waiting for the Arabella trilogy part of the series. There was even a nice set up for it at the end of the book.
-3 StarsThis is one of the manga series I want to read in 2023 and I got a start on it now. I'm pretty familiar with the start of this series so this was kind of like a refresher for me. It's not a bad start to the story and I can't wait to read more.
-4 StarsI'm totally not addicted to this series, nope, not at all. I totally didn't just read the next two books the same day I got them from the library. Joking aside this series is just a fun read for me. Sure there are some moments that might not be as good as others but when it's hitting it's stride the manga is some great content.
That's it for 2022 and I'm looking forward to even more great books in 2023.
For the record the only poetry books I haven't outright disliked have been Where the Sidewalk Ends and I vaguely remember some Robert Frost from when I was a kid
So what would be a good recommendation for someone who does everything to avoid reading poetry as much as possible because they just don't get it?
Some of these look super easy, some of these I look at and shudder, and some of these I have no clue at all. What the heck is a nonfiction poetry book by the way?
I finished this with 44 of 50 or Neo level. I probably filled those missing six but I never made a note of it.
