I'm so glad we are of consensus on this one. I wasn't sure if this was some weird out East thing like bagged milk.

180652 I don't have a lot to talk about this week. IRL stuff has been keeping me distracted from things. I've also been juggling three novels this week with two of them being on the chonkier side of things.

She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen She Drives Me Crazy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was in a weird mood when I was hunting for an audiobook last week. I was in the mood for a sapphic romance for some reason. I was doing some digging when I stumbled across this one that was also deep on my TBR somewhere so I decided to give it a try and I am so glad that I did. This book was such a fun read that had me grinning the entire time. It's the classic enemies to lovers trope and a great example of how sticking to the basic tropes can still be done really well if you take care with what you are writing. This had all the tropes you would expect, even the classic third act break up that I saw coming from the first chapter basically. The MC's were charming and the author took care not to fall into a lot of the expected pitfalls. For instance this didn't rely on the whole miscommunication thing where folks won't talk about the most basic things. Sure, there were some things that weren't talked about right away but that was stuff that was more difficult to talk about. Stuff that had some emotional baggage and weight to them. The MC's in this were also super charming and I loved their development. The bickering in the beginning felt legit nasty but it was tempered with signs that both girls had regrets with what they had said. Seeing that bickering evolve as the novel went along was great as well. Seeing it start out as something mean and then slowly becoming more of an inside joke between them that they used to tease each other. Seeing them slowly warm up and open up to each other as the novel went along was just sweet as well. I just had a great time reading this one and I'm glad I picked it up.

My Quiet Blacksmith Life in Another World Volume 3 by Tamamaru My Quiet Blacksmith Life in Another World: Volume 3 ⭐⭐⭐
More of what I would expect from this series plus some new content. We get a bunch more forging in the workshop and the usual household chores. We also get a noble steed to help pull the cart and by noble steed I mean the cutest drake ever. We also get to see some combat in this book. Our MC is requested to join a hunting party to help repair damaged equipment while on the hunt. Of course he gets roped into things and ends up on the front lines of the hunt. One of the things that I am very curious about in this series is the "harem" aspect. In this book we get the fourth young woman joining the "cabin in the woods" gang and in any other novel this would be grounds for all sorts of romance and sexual tension. Basically everything you would expect from an anime/manga harem but we get none of that. This feels more like he is building a family. There is none of the romance hijinxs you would expect from this kind of scenario. I am very curious where this is going to go as I highly doubt this will be the last woman joining the crew out in the woods.

That's it, that's all. Like I said, it would be a short one this week. Now, what am I currently working on

The Druid of Shannara (Heritage of Shannara, #2) by Terry Brooks
My current audiobook and one of the chonky ones clocking in at 16ish hours. So far it is exactly what I expected.

We Are Legion (We Are Bob) (Bobiverse, #1) by Dennis E. Taylor Hot and Badgered (Honey Badger Chronicles, #1) by Shelly Laurenston
My physical and digital book that I am working on.

180652 Time for day two of inventory counting. The fun, the fun
180652 I'm having some mixed feelings about this one. I'm far from hating it but I'm not sure if it's fully clicking either. This book has a monster cast of characters for sure and they just get tossed in your lap. There are definitely moments that are making me chuckle.

180652 I'm sitting here getting ready for my morning walk and thinking about everything that needs to be done today. A very large part of me is wondering if it's not to early to just go back to bed and stay there until Monday

180652 Work is so bad right now. Let me clarify, our department is doing fine, the main department is a raging dumpster fire. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal as we would just spin in our own little world. The problem is that we have to do an inventory tomorrow and nothing is ready for that inventory. I've been here for nearly 12 years at this point and I think this is shaping up to probably be one of the worst inventories I've seen so far.

180652 If we didn't have at least a little extrovert energy around here none of us would ever leave our little nooks.

180652 My October is starting with a bit of a bang. Work is leaping off the cliff into the realms of chaos. Not for our department but we will definitely be feeling the ripples from all the changes going on.

Oh and we have another inventory on Friday which means I am working this weekend. Fun
180652 Alright, I'm starting this one this evening.

180652 I actually found another little cafe even closer to my house that I'm going to try. This little french patessiere that has non dairy alternatives for their drinks at least. I can do my walk in reverse and end up at the cafe, have a latte, and then stroll home from there. The cafe is in a weird place though. There is this fancy french cafe in amongst some super scummy dive locations. A pub full of the same old guys, a Chinese place that is more then likely to give you food poisoning then an actual good meal, a mini mart that is sketchy as hell, etc.

180652 Maybe, it's a very small space so I'm not sure what could go in there.

I completely forgot about the app for Starbucks. To be honest, I'm not really a big fan of all that kind of stuff. I'd rather place my order in person, pick it up in person, that kind of stuff. I'm weird and old fashioned.

180652 A bit of a bummer situation here. Starbucks closed several locations all across NA and one of those locations is the one I go to all the time near my work. I get it, there are Starbucks everywhere, what's the big deal? This location was what got be back into drinking coffee when it opened up a few years back. It's in a perfect location near my work. I could get off at my normal bus stop and instead of walking directly to work I would simply cross the street, grab a coffee, and head off to work. This only added 5-10 extra minutes to my walk to work. Every other location is in the wrong direction from work for me. Aside from that, it was a smaller location where the staff knew me and my coworker when we showed up. Plus, with Starbucks, I could just order from the menu without having to modify my drink and if I did modify my drink there wasn't an extra charge for nondairy milk.

So what is next? Well there is a Starbucks near my house and I'm thinking an early morning Saturday coffee run could be a thing. I'm just not the greatest fan of the location as it is always stupid busy. This was the location where it took 45 minutes to get a coffee once. There is seating there but it is limited, again, because of how busy it is. There is also a local cafe I found nearby that I could check out. A much more limited drink menu and it has all the charges for changing my drink. I would be supporting local and I suspect that the cafe would be a whole lot quieter though. Maybe I could do both. One week do Starbucks, one week the local cafe kind of thing.
180652 I must have this mixed up with something else then. The cover also doesn't help much.
180652 I've got some mixed feelings about this one. I remember reading this back in the day and enjoying it but since then my reading tastes have changed and I've drifted away from the more smutty reads. I definitely won't be doing this one on audiobook.
