We can't help people fight their fights if we don't understand their fights. And we can't understand their fights if we don't read/listen to their stories.
It is still important because women are still often underestimated. we know Marie Curie, but not of the many other women helping to make advancements in science. we know Clara Barton, but not of other women who stood with her.
It is important to highlight diversity because someone who is a feminist is fighting for equality, and that means ALL equality; not just between men and women, but all gender identities, all races, all religions, all sexual orientations, all shapes and sizes, all nationalities. We are all human, and this world wouldn't be as amazing as it is if we were all the same.

this book is important because as a white person with a black best friend, I see so many black people disregard her thoughts. when she calls out someome on a racist joke or comment and tells them it's inappropriate, she's often told "oh it's just a joke" and they don't take her seriously. We have a special section in target specifically for "multicultural hair"; why can't thet just be hair products? One day my best friend, myself and my fiance were driving and a cop was behind us. She says to me "Liz, if I get shot, tell my mom that I love her." THAT BROKE MY HEART.
I love this book club because I'm an introvert, so I don't like face to face book clubs, but this gives me all the added benefits, but with a group of other feminists.
