(From Brandy) Are there book titles/ authors you get confused for no particular reason. (eg: Middlesex & Middlemarch)

I honestly can't say that I do

152458 Hello everybody. Looks like winter is ending over here in Vegas and it's warming up.

I am getting a little tired with all the stuff I'm doing AND reading so I didn't get a whole lot done this week

QotW:

Question from Serendipity - Do people agonize over what star rating to give a book (or is that just me) and how do you decide?

I (Sara) will add in some additional parts to this question:

-Do you have any guidelines for how you rate books?
-Are you stingy with your stars? If so, why?
-Do you rate books you don’t finish?

I do a little bit. Mainly because I am not a super discerning reader and I sometimes read other peoples reviews and that shadows my decisions. I'm not saying I have terrible taste or anything but I don't always delve as deep into a story as some and I think I enjoy some things a little more. Other things I hate and the whole world adores. I don't know. I do not usually rate things I haven't read. I think only once for Stardust whoch I found absolutely terrible and disappointing, especially because the movie is one of my all time favorites.

I do drink caffeine sometimes but not much as just a little wires me! I generally drink herbal tea but in the morning I will have some Lady Grey. I don't like the smell or taste of coffee. Not sure why but it's a hard no for me

152458 Hello everyone. This has been a really good reading week for me. The weather was weird here. We had snow last week and now it's beautiful in the 60's. I'm in Vegas so snow isn't really a thing. We had a "snow day" for schools on Friday for reports of black ice. The day was sunny and snowless.

Not working on a whole lot right now. I have a pile on my nightstand waiting for me though! Plus, I'm on the hunt for an audio book I want to listen to that fits a prompt.

QotW:
This week I have TWO questions!

1. This was suggested by Lauren: How much of your reading is fiction compared to nonfiction?

2. Because I saw so many people mention tea last week! Where are my coffee peeps? Are you:
A) tea
B) coffee
C ) neither
Yeah I know many people (including me) drink both, but pick one that you love best!!

1. I don't like non-fiction so I seldom read it. Out of 26 books read so far this year 2 have been non-fiction (1 self help, 1 lifestyle/cookbook thing), 11 have been children's picture books and 13 have been fiction.

2. A.A.A.A.A.A!!!!!! I hate coffee.

Revisiting an old question since we have so many new members. Do you have a favorite drink or snack during your reading time?

Tea! Although I drink hot tea almost everyday I am that person. Give me tea, a blanket and a book and I am happy.

29. Book with love in the title. I loved the movie when I saw it next year. Was excited to jump in on the challenge. Although I liked the movie better by a lot, I still went out and bought the next two books so I could finish Lara Jean's story.
The Royal We by Heather Cocks

QotW:
Question of the Week:
What is your "comfort reading"?

In most aspects of life I have phases, if you will. Like I got a video game for Christmas and played it every chance I could for like a month. Right now the only thing I want to do is reading. When I burn myself out I will slide to movies, board games, baking. I have always been like this as far as I know. So with things I find comforting I am the same. It all depends on "where I am in life". Right now there is a lot of chaos and uncertainty in my life and I see a lot of things in the world that make me sad so I have been very drawn to light and fluffy rom-com! I finished To All the Boys I've Loved Before and ran directly to the store to get the next two books! I have also watched the movie TWICE over my weekend.
Feb 11, 2019 09:51PM

152458 I read The Royal We which was fun, albeit a bit long imo for what it was. That being said I want to be friends with a 3rd of the characters irl so that's always good.
152458 Just finished and I wish I had the next one in hand (also it's 3am because I couldn't wait til morning to finish it). I loved the movie and fully intend to watch it again when my weekend starts. I liked the film better. The extra characters were less annoying in the movie I think. That being said, I can't wait to see what is next for Lara Jean and Peter and I found myself gushy for half the book! I really needed a light and fluffy read and this did the trick.

152458 Title:
To All the Boys I've Loved Before (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1) by Jenny Han
Author:
Jenny Han
Was the book about romantic love, or another kind of love, or not at all about love?
Romance
Would you recommend?
Maybe. I liked it but I tend to only reccomend books that are earth shattering to the general public or specific types to my book friends based on what I know they will like. I enjoyed it though (although I think the movie is better)

I am like that with movies and TV!!! I kid you not, I have to pause sitcoms and the like so often to regain my composure because I get embarrassed for the characters.
152458 I just started the book today and I am only 100 pages in but I love it so far. I saw the Netflix film when it first came out and I loved it so much that I immediately went out and bought the book. It didn't fit into my reading plan so it's been sitting on a shelf til now. So far I have gotten that warm excited feeling when things are super cute (I don't know a better way to describe this phenomena) about 4 times. I'm really excited to finish this one. It seems like a quick read and I'm already enthralled so I think end of day tmw I should finish it up.

So far I wish that Kitty wasn't so mean. She was nicer in the movie.

152458 I just finished The Only Woman in the Room for this prompt and I thought it was fascinating.

Have you ever received an advance copy of a book? Commonly these are acquired through Goodreads giveaways, Net Galley, Launch Teams, etc.

Nope! I did win a copy of The Library Book last month on Instagram but that wasn't advanced.

152458 I probably had the most options for this prompt and ended up reading something I had just intended as an extra.

The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang which is a graphic novel and definitely a reimagining of The Prince and the Pauper. It was really good!

Some options I had thought of previously if you want more ideas
The Afterlife of Holly Chase = Christmas Carol
Tempestuous = The Tempest
White as Snow = Snow White
All of my other options have already been posted

Question of the Week:
Does anyone look at the "Recommendation" GR gives you on your homepage? Do the recommendations make any sense??

I honestly don't look at them. I had to hunt for it to find it. When I did find it the recommendation it was weird and looked like an amazon free e book. Idk.

QotW:

Do you have a “Reading Buddy”? How did you find them?

I have a number of them. I am in a book club with my best friend and 3 other ladies. We actually have our own little gr group so we can borrow books from one another. One is BFF's sis, other is her future SIL and the 3rd is my husband's coworker that I played soccer with. It's the perfect club! I also discuss books with my coworkers. One is an avid reader and a couple others are occasional.
