121177 I've finished reading Stardust by Neil Gaiman and am currently between books. I'm still listening to Neverwhere, also by Neil Gaiman. Next up is The Crocodile on the Sandbank (read by Barbara Rosenblat). Not sure what I'll end up reading.

121177 I read a steampunk mystery written by a friend of mine and her husband: Bronze Gods by A.A. Aguirre. Good book, interesting story, well written. I'm going to read Stardust (it's a library book), and then dive into book 2. I'm also listening to Neverwhere by Neil Gaimon, read by the author. I don't always stop at a good spot, but I've been able to follow along for the most part.

121177 I have read several of the Star Wars, and a majority of the Star Trek books, some from every series.

121177 I have no guilt. But I do have lots of series that I love to read: Dakota Cassidy's Accidental series, Larissa Ione's Demonica series, anything by Lauren Dane or Sylvia Day, or Laurie R. King, or Victoria Thompson...

121177 I finished Allegiant last night. Without giving away too much, I could see why she ended it the way she did (I didn't like it... but I could see why she did it). It was a great story, and well told. But still.

121177 Thank you all for your recommendations. I have put the audio of Neverwhere on hold as well as Stardust. I'm still reading Allegiant, and am interested in how it ends.

121177 I'm currently reading Allegiant. I reread Divergent, glommed up Insurgent in a day and a half. Now I want to rewatch Divergent and go see Insurgent.
I think the next thing I'm going to read is something by Neal Gaimon, I've been getting posts from him on my Facebook page (not sure how, but cool) so now I want to read some of his books to see what his books are like. Any suggestions?
I'm currently listening to Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton, and have The Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters (and read by Barbara Rosenblat), I love that series.

121177 They're both working now. :)

121177 I've been using the bingo card to create my displays for the library: so far we've done one word titles, books with a purple cover, and (this month) modern day fairy tales. I haven't picked books to read based on the bingo card, but I'm sure I could use several of the books that I've read to fill in squares on the card.
Books set in the distant future: Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy, any of Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover books, The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. LeGuin... that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
P.S. the link to the poll isn't working.

121177 Thanks, Chris, for the suggestions, I'll give them a try. I'm always interested in trying new authors.

121177 I had to turn in The Fellowship of the Ring about 5 discs in (it had a hold on it). I'm now listening to Guilty Pleasures (I was at Central yesterday and grabbed it on my way out).
I'm not reading much at the moment, but I picked up some nonfiction ebooks on sale: The Joy of X (about math), Eleanor Roosevelt's Autobiography, and Dresden (about the destruction of that city during WWII, written by a man who had been held prisoner there during the worst of the bombing).
That said, I'll probably go on another mystery kick.

121177 I liked the villain poll.
I haven't done much reading this past week, I came down with the stomach bug Sunday, and have been slowly getting over it. Now I've been rereading some of my comfort reads. Then I've got the new Laurie King to enjoy.
I'm listening to The Fellowship of the Rings on my commute, he's an interesting narrator, but I wish it were read by one of the actors.

121177 This weekend was a lazy one for me (I'm getting over a sinus infection, so I didn't have much desire to do anything), so I read quite a bit. I read Obsession in Death by J.D. Robb (always an enjoyable series), and am now getting caught up on Sylvia Day's Crossfire series. After that, I've got Laurie King's Dreaming Spies waiting for me. I'm listening to the final disc of The Hobbit, and then on to the Fellowship.

121177 There is one that I just thought of, And Only to Deceive by Tasha Alexander. Emily agreed to marry Philip, the Viscount Ashton, to escape her overbearing mother, so when he died not long after the wedding, she wasn't too upset. She hardly knew him. Then two years after his death, she finds out what kind of man he was, and finds herself falling in love with him, only to face his loss all over again.

121177 I first read The Hobbit in 4th grade, and The Lord of the Rings not long after. LotR was my favorite book, and I reread it at least once a year. Part of me is sad to think there will be no more movies set in Middle Earth, another part is curious to see what Peter Jackson & Co. do next.

121177 Last week, I read The Nightingale Before Christmas by Donna Andrews (great series).
And then yesterday I finished reading To End All Wars: A Story of Loyalty and Rebellion, 1914- 1918 by Adam Hochschild, World War I as seen through the focus on its critics as well as its heroes and leaders.
I'm also listening to The Hobbit. I might listen to The Lord of the Rings next, it's been a while since I read the books.

121177 Man sees terrorist, or does he?

I'm currently reading Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockmann, whose Troubleshooters Series I want to reread and then get caught up on.

121177 I finished Quiet: the Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain, she made a powerful case for the need for introverts in a culture that values extroverts so highly. I am currently reading His Majesty's Hope by Susan Elia MacNeal. It's the third in the series, and I would be interested to see where she goes from here. Not sure what to read next maybe the 4th in the Crossfire series (I'll probably reread the first 3 before I do). Now I just need to find an audio book for my long commute.

121177 I don't really have a plan, I usually have way more books that I want to read than that I can read in a year. One of my reading goals, though, is to read more nonfiction. Over the weekend I finished Princess Elizabeth's Spy, the sequel to Mr. Churchill's Secretary by Susan Elia MacNeal, which I enjoyed immensely and can't wait to read book 3 in the series. I have also started reading Quiet: the Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking, by Susan Cain-which I might break down and get for my Nook so I can reread it.

121177 I couldn't think of any off the top of my head, so I went to my favorite website (StopYoureKillingMe.com) and found a few:
A Fine Summer’s Day [Ian Rutledge #17] by Charles Todd
Dreaming Spies [Mary Russell #14] by Laurie R. King
Obsession in Death [Eve Dallas #40] by J.D. Robb
The Patriot Threat [Cotton Malon #10] by Steve Berry
The Angel Court Affair [Thomas and Charlotte Pitt #30] by Anne Perry
A Dangerous Place [Maisie Dobbs #11] by Jacqueline Winspear
Eighth Grave After Dark [Charley Davidson #8] by Darynda Jones
14th Deadly Sin [Women’s Murder Club #14] by James Patterson & Maxine Paetro
Lord of the Wings [Meg Langslow #19] by Donna Andrews
Murder on Amsterdam Avenue [Gaslight #17] by Victoria Thompson
a few of them are in series where I will have to get caught up first, but all of them are in series I enjoy reading (and rereading).
