I'm still binging on the Monk Books: I've finished A Breach of Promise, The Twisted Root, Slaves of Obsession (Monk and Hester visit America at the start of the Civil War), and am now reading Funeral in Blue (9 more after this). I took a brief break and read a couple of fun books by Dakota Cassidy: Witched at Birth, What Not to Were, and Witch is the New Black. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year! and lots of great books to read. :)
I am continuing my Monk marathon: I finished Sins of the Wolf, Cain His Brother, and Weighed in the Balance, and am now reading The Silent Cry (and next is A Breach of Promise- one of my favorite). I also read Odd and the Frost Giants by Neil Gaiman, one of his children's stories, but still a great story. There are 13 books still to read in the Monk series, and then I'm not sure what I'll read. Maybe a nonfiction binge, so I can get back to writing.
I finished The Face of a Stranger, and A Dangerous Mourning, and Defend and Betray, and am now reading The Sins of the Wolf- all by Anne Perry. Not sure what I'll read once I get caught up with the Monk series.
This week I finished Mercedes Lackey's The Last Herald Mage series, and am now reading The Face of a Stranger by Anne Perry, and will probably binge my way through this series as well, not sure which book is the last I've read in the series. I've logged in 111 books so far, and my personal goal was 100 books.
I loved Little Women, Eight Cousins, and Under the Lilacs (all Louisa May Alcott). I also loved Nancy Drew (especially The Secret of the Old Clock), The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, and one summer even read almost the entire series of Trixie Belden (despite being at summer camp while doing this). I still think the books that had the biggest impact would have to be The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
I will be there (not sure what to bring, yet). This week I continued my Mercedes Lackey book binge: I've read Owlflight, Owlsight, Owlknight, Foundation, Intrigues, and Changes, and am currently reading Redoubt (although I'll probably start rereading American Gods at some point). Next will be Bastion, Closer to Home, and Closer to the Heart (just came out).I also just found out that Susan Elia Macneal's new one is out: Mrs. Roosevelt's Confidante. I also read The Thames River Murders by Ashley Gardner (a really good series). I'm still trying to read Black Earth, but not doing well.
I've been doing a reread of Mercedes Lackey's Mage Storm trilogy. I'm also still reading Black Earth, or trying, it's a little too dense for me right now (he was scary crazy, more than even many who know the history knew, I think). Maybe I'll start rereading American Gods next.
I'll miss you! I finished Interworld by Neil Gaiman & Michael Reaves, and am also reading Black Earth: The Holocaust as History and Warning (and NetGalley book- fascinating in a scare your pants off sort of way), Storm Warning by Mercedes Lackey, and also The Story of English in 100 Words (on sale as a Nook Book). Oh, and I finally got the new J.D. Robb from the library (Devoted in Death).
I've been doing a Mercedes Lackey binge! I've read By the Sword, Winds of Fate, Winds of Change and Winds of Fury. I also read Warlock Unchained by Dana Marie Bell. I also read the 5th volume of Saga, the graphic novel. I'm still working through A World Undone, but might backshelf it for a while, I've found some other nonfiction that have peaked my interest. I'm currently reading Interworld by Neil Gaiman. Not sure what is next.
I looked at the list on Goodreads (the top link), and out of the 234 books, I've read 61 of them. All 7 of the Harry Potters were on this list. Lord of the Rings was also on the list.
Or you can get a paperback copy for 7.99 (the same price also for a Nook book). This past week, I started reading Daring Greatly by Brene Brown (who wrote the forward for Amanda Palmer's The Art of Asking). I also read Sway by Lauren Dane, and Silver Mine and Diamond Dust both by Vivian Arend, and am finishing Arrow's Fall, the last book in the Arrows Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey.
I put a few books on hold and 3 were here when I got in, so I'll be reading those next: Black Swan Green by David Mitchell, Stories: All New Tales, edited by Neil Gaiman, and Interworld, also by Neil Gaiman.
I wouldn't mind rereading American Gods. I'm sure there is a lot that I missed the first time through.
I loved the Martian, and can't wait for the movie. The science behind it all was fascinating.I gave up on Number9Dream, and will try The Cloud Atlas next in his books. I'm still reading A World Undone, and am also reading The Perfect Hope (vol 3 in The Inn Boonsboro Trilogy) by Nora Roberts. I also found some Mercedes Lackey bundles on BN for my Nook: the complete Arrows Trilogy, and also the first two books in The 500 Kingdoms series. I've also been reading a couple of shifter series by Vivian Arend, fun books set in NW Canada with a great sense of place.
The Hobbit (big surprise, right?), which I read in 4th grade- it (and the Lord of the Rings) are the books that grabbed my imagination and never let go. That was the book that showed me that books could take you places, and show you things you'd never see otherwise (mountains- not something you see in south Florida). Even now I love books with a good sense of place. The last book I finished was Lord of the Wings by Donna Andrews. Currently, I am reading Game of Thrones, Lunatic Heroes by C. Anthony Martignetti, and Number9Dream by David Mitchell. I also found another history of WWI on BN's cheap nookbooks list: A World Undone by G.J. Meyer, looks interesting.

She talks about how she created the relationship that she has with her group, and about how in the beginning of their relationship she couldn't ask Neil to lend her money (even after they were married).
I'm still reading Information Doesn't Want to be free by Cory Doctorow, and last week I read The Art of Asking by Amanda Palmer. I'm reading Lord of the Wings by Donna Andrews and Number9Dream by David Mitchell. Not sure what else I'll read.
I'm currently reading two books: the first is Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman, the other is Information Doesn't Want to be Free by Cory Doctorow (with forewords by Neil Gaiman & Amanda Palmer)-a fascinating book about copyright and DRM and being an artist in the Internet age. Not sure what to read next. It's a mystery.
