How good are you at picking books to read next year? List 12 books, one book a month, that you want to read in 2023.
Add up to 4 extra books as back up or replacement books.
All books must be chosen before January 1, 2023, and no changes to lists can be made after that time.
All books must be read starting In 2023.
You may switch out one of your books from any of your back up books.
Challenge yourself to read all of them, even your back ups!
Feel free to start a thread here to track your progress!
This is a very free flowing challenge, as in you can add what ever you wish to read, as long as it is either; poetry/plays/epistolary/essay/short stories. No set target for the year, but it would be nice to read at least one of each.
This challenge starts on Jan 1st 2023 and ends 31st Dec 2023.
Feel free to start a thread here to track your progress.
Love to read large tomes? Join us in a yearly challenge. Feel free to start a thread for yourself here to track your progress.Tome Reader Rules:
1. All books must be read in 2023.
2. Each book must consist of over 500 pages.
3. You make and edit your own list.
The aim of the Nonfiction Reader Challenge is to encourage you to make nonfiction part of your reading experience during the year. Feel free to post your own 2023 NF Reading Challenge thread in this folder. The challenge will run from January 1st to December 31st 2023.
Participants may join at any time up until December 1st 2023.
Here is a thread where people can post about other not-challenge-related NF books they happen to read. This is a totally selfish thread for me because I have really enjoyed that thread when I've seen it elsewhere. It typically has not, however, been especially healthy for my TBR!If you ARE doing the NF challenge but a book really impresses you (one way or the other), you can post about it on this general thread as well if you wish.
Independent Challenges are fun! Feel free to start your own thread here for your 2023 Independent Challenge. Each year you devise your own list of books, any genre, any number of pages, etc.
There is only one tiny rule, all books must be read in 2023. Not too hard.
Have fun, spy on other friends challenges, get new ideas.
Same here, Desley. Last couple of months I haven't gotten all of mine finished, although I've read several "accidental" of the color each month -- I need to plan better.

This was a five star read for me.
[bookcover:The No-Show|5763..."Denise, those are great, *and* I need a one-word title for another challenge so "Counterfeit" is well-timed!

Our Moderator Recommends winner for December 2022 is The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding by Agatha Christie. The group read starts December 1 and goes through December 31. Looking forward to reading with you!Blurb:
An English country house at Christmas time should be the perfect place to get away from it all - but nothing is ever simple for Hercule Poirot, as he finds not one but five baffling cases to solve.
First comes a sinister warning on his pillow to avoid the plum pudding...then the discovery of a corpse in a chest...next, an overheard quarrel that leads to murder...the strange case of a dead man's eating habits...and the puzzle of a victim who dreams of his own suicide.
I'll throw one in too, just to keep up the theme.
. The poll will go up sometime today in between holiday stuff!
Hi, everyone --For anyone who doesn't know, in our old group this challenge was moderated by the lovely and indefatigable Jackie. She stepped back because of other commitments but I still think of it as "her" challenge, so I asked her if she would pick our colors for us for 2023 and she graciously agreed. The 2023 color choices are below for your planning pleasure.
JANUARY white or blue
FEBRUARY pink or light gray
MARCH navy or rose gold
APRIL teal or bronze
MAY tan or hot pink
JUNE yellow or grape
JULY brown or light blue
AUGUST silver or lavender
SEPTEMBER dark gray or mustard yellow
OCTOBER orange or black or red
NOVEMBER rust or gold
DECEMBER emerald green or purple
Heh, I put my challenge needs on my PIFM shelf so whoever picks for me is probably picking which annual challenges I'm going to actually finish LOL.
