1176148 Oh good that you liked that- it’s on my list.

1176148 I suspect you're right, Bonnie.

I just started How Not To Murder Your Ex (The Bad Girls Detective Agency #1) by Katie Marsh .

1176148 Very stark-looking cover and a Nabokov I hadn't heard of before. :)

1176148 Please nominate a genre for April 2024 in this thread, if you would like to. The only rule for genre nominations is that you cannot nominate a genre that we've already read this calendar year.

Not planning to be a huge stickler on the "genre vs subgenre" thing. If it's a recognized book category (i.e. you can reasonably expect the average Goodreads reader to know what it is), post it.

Nominations open until 3/14, poll to follow.

If you want to see examples of genres and subgenres that Goodreads has some lists for, or figure out where a book/style of book you like happens to fit, try this link:

Goodreads Genres

Genres already chosen this year:
January - Science Fiction
February - Romance
March - Mystery

1176148 Joy! Your picks are
Countdown to Pearl Harbor The Twelve Days to the Attack by Steve Twomey although that's a spectacularly ugly cover,
The Hard Blue Sky A Novel by Shirley Ann Grau because I read one by her last year and liked it and
Main Street by Sinclair Lewis which I've read and liked. Enjoy!

1176148 OK. Lance, your picks are:
The Tennis Champion Who Escaped the Nazis Liesl Herbst’s Journey, from Vienna to Wimbledon by Felice Hardy Charlie Hustle The Rise and Fall of Pete Rose, and the Last Glory Days of Baseball by Keith O'Brien The Formula How Rogues, Geniuses, and Speed Freaks Reengineered F1 into the World's Fastest-Growing Sport by Joshua Robinson

I was looking for books from three different sports that looked interesting!

1176148 Hi everyone! March's genre focus is Mystery -- love to see what mysteries we all read in March, and whether or not we enjoyed them! Any kind of mystery fits, since the genre as a whole was picked. Looking forward to reading with you!

1176148 You know, you can pick a different book for purple and/or for the one-commit challenge if you want, Bonnie. Although there's something refreshing about finishing something early!

Huh. That is an odd trajectory!

1176148 Denise, this was easy: I'm going to sit here and envy you your early read of Summers at the Saint by Mary Kay Andrews .
