عنوان اصلی کتاب اعترافات یک تریاک خور انگلیسی است و شرح یک دهه اعتیاد د کوئینسی به تریاک. کتاب هم یک مقاله بلند محسوب میشود و هم یک رمان اعترافی؛ هرچند نتواسته با حفظ پیچیدگیها و نظرگاههای خاص رماننویسی به کنکاش در جهان درون ذهن شخصیتها بپردازد. فکر میکنم این کتاب در زمان انتشارش (1821) در جهت اجتماعی شدن مبارزه با مواد مخدر موفق بوده اما بعد از گذشت دو قرن دیگر جذابیت زیادی برای خواننده ندارد

بسیار بسیار لذت بردم.
از راه منطق و با چاشنیهای احساسی، خواننده مجاب میشود که به سمت افیون نرود و اگر هم لغزشی کرده، قبل از آنکه دیر شود بازگردد.
ترجمه جالب نبود و اگر کتاب ویرایش میشد، شاید خوشخوانتر میشد؛ ضمن اینکه نثر کتاب کمی ثقیل بود و خواننده موظف بود به اکثر جملات فکر کند.
در کل تجربه خوبی بود و قطع به یقین توصیه میشود.
