Some of the areas like SMART goals were a new concept. I wish I had learned these a long time ago. I plan to use the tools immediately.I thought I knew the fundamentals for identifying risks and reviewing costs and budgets, but I sure learned a lot more. The items covered gave me a new appreciation for our purchasing and accounting folks. The human resources cases pointed out what a project manager should and shouldn’t do when faced with the multitude of everyday situations and that ignorance of law is not an excuse if litigation takes place. The two companion books, Planning for Performance , and Results Through People , are focused on the technical and leadership sides of project management, respectively.

Although the series is directed toward individuals, faculty teaching in universities and community college programs, as well as trainers in organizations will find it useful as a text or guide to bridge theory and practice.

People in organizations who just want to learn and study more about project management can use the self-paced guidebooks for workshops and seminars or learn-at-lunch programs.

As you proceed through the content and associated learning activities, it is helpful to apply what you learn to projects that you are familiar with.

Mastering Project Management focuses on the business management side of project management. Its purpose is to inform us on ideas like budgeting, risk management, and everything else required to complete any project successfully.

This book is excellent! It will be something I always have by my desk. As I was reading this book, the ideas just clicked. This book helped me see the areas I needed to focus on.

Practical and based on common sense, the ideas and examples provided by the author make sense. It is an excellent guide for those people in organizations who want to learn and study more about project management. It's the best book. I've read on the subject, and I'll probably refer to it again in the future.

Unfortunately, I’ll start this opinion with a small complaint, I read most of the books by this author because I find them helpful, easy to read, original and full of invaluable information; however, in my humble opinion, they seem a bit repetitive due to the similar covers they share. The colors, shapes, letters and style are more than similar and it happened to me that I confused two of his books because of this reason.
Talking about the content, this author always manages to surprise me as he has such a knowledge and impeccable experience that it’s easy to get caught up in his books.
The writing technique is exquisite, the way in which he organizes the book and the material he includes show that he makes a sublime job.

"Controlling Time, Money, and Risk" is the second book in the "Mastering Project Management" collection by author Wesley Donahue. Like the previous volume, this book is a great help when it comes to engaging in business, running smoothly, and succeeding.
In this book, the author transmits different ways of controlling the company's main resources such as time and money. Assessing expenses, economizing and taking coherent risks greatly help the stability and development of the business. Like the previous book, it has helped me a lot in the workplace and has opened my mind to new topics that until now I had not taken into account and that are really fundamental.
