Charlie Greene's life is unraveling… dismissed from Scotland Yard, she's jobless, aimless, and living with her father in London. But as she struggles to get her life in order, he mysteriously disappears while on a business trip to Florida.
With nothing more than a duffel bag and an uneasy feeling, Charlie flies to Miami and quickly discovers… someone has their sights set on her too.
Reluctantly joined by a troubled former soldier, Grant Wolfe, they begin a frantic search for answers which reveal more about their pasts than either of them could have imagined.
Two best-selling authors bring their unique styles together for an action adventure thrill ride kicking off the Greene Wolfe Thriller series.
A USA Today bestselling author, Nicholas Harvey's life has been anything but ordinary. Race car driver, motorsports professional, adventure traveller, divemaster, and since 2020, a full-time novelist. Raised in England, Nick has dual UK and US citizenship and now lives nomadically wherever he and his amazing wife, Cheryl, choose to land for a few months. He is the author of the Nora Sommer Suspense, Kat Cromwell Mystery, and AJ Bailey Adventure series, as well as multiple collaborations.
I went into this one really excited and that excitement didn’t stop until the book ended. I’ve been really enjoying Nicholas Harvey’s books lately and when I saw that he and Douglas Pratt were writing this together I knew I had to check it out. It’s weird going into a book with high hopes, I usually go into them just looking for some enjoyment. But I was pumped for this one and it did not disappoint.
Missing in the Keys was such an interesting story that two adults realized that they had both been lied to by their mother and father. It was such an interesting premise and the realization that they could potentially be long-lost siblings added such a fun element to it.
I applaud Harvey and Pratt for making both characters have some big flaws that they both needed to work on (and ones that made them both lose their perspective law enforcement careers). I think it sets up such an interesting character arc for both of them (which already started in this book). I like when there is a flawed main character or characters because it humanizes them to me much faster allowing me to fall in love with new characters and want more from them. That happened quickly with Missing in the Keys. I think it was just after the funeral scene that I thought “I hope they write more of these”. That doesn’t happen often to me, but I already wanted it to be a series before the ending.
Overall, I don’t think I need to explain more, but I loved it. Harvey and Pratt are at the top of their game with this one. And throw in the excellent performance by Ray Montecalvo, who I thought absolutely nailed this. And you’ve got a great thriller series that sets the stage for these two long-lost siblings to work together in the future. I’m not sure if it’ll be against more of these rogue government agents/enemies or something else, but I’m here for it.
This thriller by Nicholas Harvey andDouglasPratt is a fun read since it uses current or recent movies to help understand the plot. The plot centers on family when a young woman searches for her missing father. She and her father live in London where she has become a law enforcement professional in the new Scotland Yard. Depressed after losing her job and having her father missing, she travels to Florida hoping to find her father there. She has been raised alone with only her father never having known her mother. Because of her training in law enforcement, she is able to find her father’s hotel room in Florida’s well as a rental car. Charlie is British which is what makes this book so much fun to read since we learn all kinds of English slang, gestures, and attitudes. Charlie is not just feisty but brave and bold to the point of being over aggressive.
In Florida, Charlie’s life is turned upside down after she takes her father’s rental car to a funeral home where the deceased is her lookalike. There, she meets the deceased woman’s son who is also a former police officer. Grant suffers a leg injury which causes him to use pills for the pain. His mother was the victim of a hit and run accident. After he and Charley meet one another , they begin to see the similarities between them to realize that they may be related. This is a family affair.
Grant misses his mother’s funeral while witnessing a shooting outside the funeral home. His mother, Fiona, is a former hairstylist who has many friends. Charlotte Greene, daughter of Keith Greene, looks exactly like Fiona. As Charley leaves the funeral home, she thinks she has seen her father, and is also shot at by two men in a black SUV. Grant is a witness to the shooting which brings his attention to Charley.
From this point on, the two try to find their father since now they seem to think they are related. Russian villains create the rest of the drama to bring Grant and Charley together to realize the truth of the mystery of their parents.
It is a rather trite plot but it is interesting to learn how the English perceive Americans. Charley is a lot of fun. I liked reading the story just for that reason alone. The authors use great detailed descriptions in something so simple as stealing a car.
The chance to read a bonus chapter did not work. Error popped up instead! Just a warning but it might workforce some.
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The story begins with two individuals performing a mission in Kosovo. The story then begins with Charlie in London and as not heard from her father for four days. She is concerned and decides to go to Miami to find him. Upon arriving she goes to the hotel where he was staying and discovered that hhe has not been in his room for a while. Finding his ring, watch and a key fob, Charlie decides to look at the cars GPS to see where he had been. She discovered that he had gone down to the Keyes and decided to follow that lead. Upon arriving at that location, she discovers that it is a funeral home and a funeral is being held. A strange thing happens once she discovers that she resembles the deceased woman. Things get stranger the longer she stays.
To discover what Charlie discovered, who Grant was and why Charlie's father went into hiding, then you need to read this book.
Nicholas Harvey and Douglas Pratt have come together to write a novel that hits the road running from both sides of the Atlantic ocean. Charlie is a fallen police officer who has been let go from new Scotland yard. Grant is a police officer who has been laid off from his job in the Florida Keys. The two of them come together because Charlie’s father has come up missing. Charlie flies to the keys, looking for the missing father and follows the trail that intersects with what is going on in Grants life at the same time. There is a mixture of double ot spies, CIA agents and a couple of semi bumbling detectives following the trail. The British were involved, the Americans are involved and just to make life interesting the Russians are involved. This is a fast paced read, and well manufactured story. The characters are well developed and hopefully this will turn into a series for us to enjoy for many years to come.
I've read Pratt's books before but not Harvey's. They're a great duo writing this book. I was highly entertained by the banter that went on between Charlie and Grant. You'd have thought they grew up in the same household the way they're always sniping at each other. The use of colloquial expressions throughout from two different Englush speaking countries was hilarious. It made the characters much more likable. Their half-baked approach to finding her missing father was amusing, although frightning, too. Sometimes it's hard to believe they both have police training because its only due to dumb luck that they aren't killed by the Russians. Finally getting to talk to Mr. Greene is a real eye-opener. He has so little time with them and so many secrets to divulge. This is a great book. Get it. Read it. Then wait like I am waiting for the next book about Grant and Charlie to come out next year. I received an ARC of this book from the authors

Two well known authors have given us.a dynamic action filled story. A father missing on a business trip in Miami, he never spoke of her mother or business. Charlie an ex cop and her instinct say's he is in trouble. Meeting up with another ex cop Grant. Turns there lives up side down when their past with secrets brings us into an action filled story. Of what they uncover and questions of what is going on. I enjoyed these two writers together and this new series, that readers will enjoy. Given arc for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
The story starts off with a black ops mission in Kosovo. Then departs from there and you, the reader, wonder why. The names do not appear again until much later.
By then people are going missing, people are dying and some sleuthing by Greene and Wolfe eventually reveal why. It is a difficult story for our sleuths, but they learn more about themselves than they ever expected to know.
It's a mystery with serious action. Double crossing and outright double dealing.
Missing in the Keys is a story of an English girl that goes to Florida looking for her father. She ends up meeting a man that turns out to be her brother. They go on a search for their father and get wrapped in in something they don’t want what is going on. It is a good story with a good ending. The characters are basically likeable but just a little too drawn out. For a first book it was was very good and I would read more by this author.
Given the way this sister and brother were brought together, the back story offers so many ways to go for new adventures. The beginning gives a hint of a relationship that will be fun and bring every bro sis a realistic way things go. Excellent pacing and twists.
I’ve read Douglas Pratt’s series set in the Keys, and this new joint series is no disappointment. It’s fast-paced and authentic. The dialogue is good, the characters are likeable—but with their flaws. If you like a mystery with action blended in, try this book.
All an adventure novel should be and more. The character of Charlie is brilliant. What a witty, strong, and inspiring "person." I am so looking forward to reading more of this dynamic brother/sister duo. Highly Recommended.
For some reason this book reminds me of a cross between Magnum P.I. and The Rockford Files TV series. It has lots of action, plenty of humor, a good plot, and a great assortment of intriguing characters, especially Wrench.
Very enjoyable story with likable characters. The story moves at a nice pace and keeps you guessing what will happen next. I have read books by both authors and they never fail to deliver.
Great read new story line held my interest and finished in a couple days action good family story very interesting and the brother sister reunion keeps it moving along ciao from Costa Rica... Pura vida
This was an ok read. Fun in some ways but unrealistic. The manner in which the author transitioned between characters was frequently awkward and forced the reader to go back to figure who was saying what.
Thoroughly enjoyed this story. Well told, great characters who work interact really well with each other. I’m a slow reader, but finished this one quickly because it was fun and a great read.
The banter between British Charlie and American Grant was wonderful. These two siblings were very well developed characters. I will definitely read more about them.
Good story but you won’t fall in love with either of the lead characters very cool aloof maybe better once they are more familiar with each other? Not sure if I will read #2 have to think about it!
First book in a new series and it is a roller coaster ride that had me on the edge of my seat!! Wow what a great story!! These two authors need to team up more often because I pack a heck of a punch! Can't wait to see what else these two are going to get up to!!
A mission long ago in Kosovo is affecting the present of Charlie Greene from England and Grant Wolfe in Florida. Charlie is worried about her father, he's been out of touch for days-unusual for him. She decides to look for clues in his office which has always been off limits to her.
Meanwhile, Grant Wolfe is attending his mother's funeral in Florida. Charlie finds info that leads her to the same town and they end up evading lots of Russian's. They see a few glimpses of her Dad but have yet to connect. When they do, they get some answers but not all.
They finally connect but only briefly and the link to the ongoing series begins. It's a bit cheesy but a fast read- an ok 2.5 rating
