A fabulous introductory guide to listening in education. Although aimed at the instruction of upper primary school students, the theoretical foundation for teaching listening that is presented in this book is outstanding. Further, the exercises are appropriate and useful. They can be migrated and translated for a diversity of learning contexts including higher education.

This book was published in 2005 and the authors recognized the consequences of disruption and a lack of concentration on learning. But they also affirmed the importance of teaching the value of concentration and attentiveness in terms of both social and learning life. This argument - and the strategies developed from it - are even more valuable now than when the monograph was published.
