Robert Paul Henry was born February 23, 1949 in Dallas, Texas. His parents both worked for the military during WWII. Dorothea Ruth Henry, his mother, was a 'Code Girl' and his father, Roger Henry, was an aircraft mechanic for a cargo airlines conscripted during the war. Roger continued to work for the same airlines through the Viet Nam war. Robert spent two years at North Georgia Military College and then enlisted into the US Coast Guard where he was an aircraft mechanic and plane captain. He volunteered for the ice breaking section and was assigned with the helicopter detachments aboard ice breakers in both the Arctic and Antarctica. Completing his enlistment in the Coast Guard, Robert then became employed with the Department of Defense and the Naval Air Rework Facility in Alameda, California as any aircraft mechanic. Subsequently, he acquired a BS degree in aircraft maintenance management, and became both an aircraft examiner and inspector. Because of the classified nature of many of the aircraft involved in his work, he obtained a secret clearance and was sent to Naval air stations around the world to examine and inspect military aircraft on site. Robert is now retired and resides in Carrizozo, NM where he spends his time gardening, working odd jobs, as well as writing. Though fiction, "The Cassandra Event", depicts real characters with whom he has been associated during his aviation career. Many of the vignettes are events that have actually occurred and typify life at the Naval Air Rework Facility. Animals depicted in the book are real pets he has had over many decades. "The Cassandra Event" is a military thriller and is considered 'adult' reading as it is rife with foul language, sexual situations, and violence. The book is available on Amazon in both paperback and kindle. You can leave comments at Robert.henry88@yahoo.com
Thriller readers who are fascinated by the inner workings of aviation crews and military personnel will enjoy the realistic manner in which the characters at Cherry Point communicate as well as the hyperbolic chain of events to thwart enemy invasions. All in all, THE CASSANDRA EVENT is one entertaining read.
