Santa in a Snow Globe is a sweet, rhyming picture book to fill you with Christmas cheer!

If you're looking to add to your Christmas picture book roster for the year, give this book a go. It's a fun, light hearted Christmas tale that somehow manages to involve COVID in it. I was honestly surprised that I didn't mind that fact - social distancing, masks, the works - but it worked.

There's colourful and cute pictures, a great rhyming scheme and a sweet little plot about a Santa stuck in a globe so no

Charming and sweet, Santa in a Snow Globe captures all the joy in the anticipation of the season, even when things have dramatically changed. Santa isn't as young as he used to be, and now when we visit him, we have to be mindful of the way COVID has affected our way of life. Even though there is a lot to think about, from global warming to the overwhelming need to accumulate 'stuff,' Santa reminds us in poetic form what the season is all about. Simple pleasures, the need to share and remember t ...more

This book does a good job of addressing the excitement of Christmas, as well as the anxieties children may be feeling. I particularly liked that it wrapped back around to core themes of the season-kindness, empathy, and helping others. I recommend this for anyone looking for ways to prepare children for the different holiday season that will come this year.

Santa in a Snow Globe is a children’s rhyme story roughly in the rhythmic style of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas.” This cute and simple story serves to offer an explanation to young children as to why Christmas experiences will (likely) be different this year. The main focal point is that of why children will not be able to sit in Santa’s lap; the titular snow globe being a physical barrier between mall Santa’s and visiting children. The plot of the rhyme is a child having a conversation wit ...more

Snow Globe by A.H. Edelman is an illustrated children's book which allows parents, caregivers and of course children to talk about how the pandemic has affected Christmas and why the holiday's will be different this year. It's a straight-forward and simple book which highlights this and helps open a channel of discussion between children and parents.

It's a one of a kind book, which talks about kindness, giving and the true spirit of Christmas, that being good all year round isn't a waste. It als

This is the perfect children’s book for Christmas for this strange year. I cried through this story. I really enjoyed the style of the writing and the illustrations are cute. I enjoyed the lessons that were being told also. I received a copy of this book from Smith Publicity fir a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Insight from Santa during trying times

This short story is a great representation of renewing holiday cheer during a moment in which much change has transpired and many new questions have arisen. Young readers are able to learn a healthy way to adapt to such shifts and challenging times while the book helps to guide the adult read-along readers as how to sculpt a more positive and empowered perspective about holiday traditions in unprecedented times. Centered on the annual excursion that many par

I love to read picture books and this one is so cute! Even though this story is geared towards a younger audience, I think this is a good story for all ages. The story is simple, yet heartwarming with a message of showing compassion and grace all year round (and not just at the holidays). The illustrations were so colorful and I like it portrays people from different walks of life and it's diverse.

My favorite thing about this book is that it discusses Christmas in changing times. It helps to sta

‘Santa in a Snow Globe’ by A. H. Edelman—the author of ‘The Little Black Dress’ and ‘Manless in Montclair’—is a classic Kris Kringle-themed tale with a timely, modern message of hope.

‘Santa in a Snow Globe’ begins, appropriately enough, with people waiting in line to see Santa. A classic Christmas premise, albeit, with a twist: those gathered were wearing masks, and Santa himself was seated behind glass, inside a large snow globe. Santa goes on to explain that while this year has been fraught wi

Santa in a Snow Globe is a charming picture book that teaches children about compassion and kindness. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been a number of children's books that deal with Covid 19. This book is unique in the sense that it is the first Christmas themed book I've come across that addresses the pandemic. Set to the tune of "The Night Before Christmas" this book serves as a great starting point for parents to open conversations with their children about the changes that ar ...more

Timely, relevant and delightful!

We all know that as soon as Hallowe’en and Thanksgiving are over, children’s thoughts will be on Christmas. But adults realize Christmas 2020 will be very different from what we are all used to.

How do we prepare our children, especially the younger ones, for the changes necessitated by Covid19...the need for masks, social isolation, and restraints on hugging and kissing family and friends? By revisiting what Christmas is really all about through this sweet, short

Santa in a Snow Globe by AH Edelman is an amazing example of what children's books need to be like today; It mixes the classic Christmas-time poem with modern day messages about the state of the world we live in today, from climate change all the way to the hints of the current coronavirus pandemic. In doing so, the child (and adult!) reading the book is left feeling both a warm sense of christmassy nostalgia whilst also being gently reminded about the current state of global affairs and how we ...more

I went out to run some errands today and Christmas music was playing in the stores, so honestly this is the perfect day for this tour! And I mean, 2020 needs a little Christmas spirit (can you guess my favorite holiday? Haha)! But this book is so adorable and so perfect for this year. It holds all of the joy and magic of Christmas but also puts into perspective how things have changed this year.

As with everything this year, Christmas is going to bring about something new and unexpected. It’ll be

Santa in a Snow Globe by A.H. Adelman is a children’s book that addresses a lot of the issues that are happening in the world at-large today, presently, issues that have arisen specifically in 2020. While these topics generally have created panic and anxiety for children and adults alike, the author takes a more gentle, age-appropriate, approach on these global disasters. This book is a cautionary tale that teaches children what to do in the face of these events and to respond by being respectfu ...more

Santa in a Snow Globe is a children’s rhyme story roughly in the rhythmic style of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” which is written for the current times today, explaining why Christmas experiences will be different this year. A spin on our happy-go-lucky Christmas books! While the world is in a completely different place from what it was a year ago, this book is here to help us explain what is going on. It gives hope that while we can still enjoy Christmas, the world needs help becoming a better place and that at this time we need to have "compassion and grace." Although I initially thought this book may be a little above what my 6 and 4 year old would understand, it still opened up the door for dialogue about some o ...more

*Thank you to Smith Publicity for the advanced copy for an honest review*

This book was magical!! It touched on that excitement kids have for Christmas but also the real issues that are happening around us. Most adults believe kids to be oblivious to what’s happening, but truthfully my girls fully understand that the world can be a scary place and when you bring in a beloved character that helps them see what they can do to help, it’s just all around an amazing feeling. And this book does that.

Our holiday season is definitely looking different this year! This is a really cute book to normalize that and to start some good conversations. It’s written by a mom, and in the book- Santa explains how we can still be joyful and compassionate through this season. My pre-schooler thought it was fun and loved to see characters in the book wearing masks too! The wording is cleverly done and subtle enough that it doesn’t make the pandemic part of the story scary! It just reiterates that it won’t a ...more

This was a delightful book to share with my children. “Santa in a Snow Globe” can be read to the rhythm of “Twas the Night Before Christmas”. It is a timely and entertaining way to teach children about the current state of the world and how the holidays will be this year - social distancing, masks, possibly less presents, and being kind to each other and the literal world.

I enjoyed the message in this book and the familiarity of the “retelling”. I also liked the diversity shown within the illus

If you are wondering how to explain that you may not be able to sit in Santa's lap this year, then you may want to pick up this book. The story is well written. It had me rhyming after reading it. LOL The illustrations are fun and engaging. The story is a little bit funny but mostly it's a way to open up that conversion and to explain things may be different but they are also still the same. It's a cute book for those who want to share Santa and also how Christmas may be different this year. I s ...more

This book was a book based on what may happen to Santa in 2020 with the social distancing and masks. It is explaining to the boys and girls you may not be able to sit on Santas lap this year but presenting getting is the the entire reason for the season. I thought that the pages could have hard a little more rhyme to the story the way it started off I thought that it would. It is a cute story but I wanted a little bit more from it. This is a cute holiday book to help young children understand why Christmas may look a little different this year. The author talks about COVID and teaches compassion and togetherness. Certainly, these are messages the country needs right now. The story loosely follows the format of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” in its delivery. I found this to be a nice touch to tie it into Christmas tales we are all familiar with.

The illustrations are minimalistic but are still lovely and detailed. They co

This book is beautifully told and illustrated with modern images, helping parents to explain Christmas 2020 to young children in a way they can understand. I was a bit dubious about the message at first, thinking the concern was on receiving presents, but quickly released what the author was saying – that presents aren’t the most important thing about Christmas. For parents who may not be able to afford much this year, or whose children either can’t see Father Christmas, or are confused about wh ...more

I liked the idea of this story but the illustrations did not really work for me and sadly they let the book down for me.

The story was ok and I liked the way it was showing that things may be different this year (my daughters visit to Santa might be cancelled too) so this helped to show why Santa might not be the same this year for younger ones

It was a good idea but didn't work for me and I really didn't like the illustrations - sadly is 3 stars from me for this one, hopefully others will enjoy t

This year has been hard on everyone, COVID has turned everyday life upside down. Our town has a Reverse Christmas Parade last night. Instead of everyone standing on the streets watching the floats go by, they had the floats parked and the people could drive by and see them. The whole thing was horrible, but we wanted our son to experience the magic!! Instead we drove around for a while and looked at all the houses that we lit up. This book is much the same... Proving that kindness and compassion are still the most important things in this world. This children's book offers a very accessible and adorable take at how Santa might teach children all over the world how to stay safe in this "new normal" that we find ourselves in. Reassuring for both parents and children alike, it is so affirming to believe that the magic of Christmas can still be true this year even amidst all of the chaos in this world.

With inclusive illustrations and fun rhymes, this boo

There's a lot of kids Christmas themed books about focusing on kindness and connection, so this story is nothing new. But it's cute, it rhymes and it kept my son's attention. It's the first time I've seen a children's book with today's themes worked in (masks, social distancing, etc), and although it is a little jarring, I think it's important. Normalizing staying safe while still trying to hold on to the magic of Christmas is definitely important right now. Overall, it's a cute little Christmas ...more

A Heartfelt Message...

This story was an interesting take on modern times when everything is changing, and yet the little ones (like everyone else) wonders whether the things we love would ever be the same.

I think the story helps shift kids' focus to what's truly important, although at times I felt that the language and the references weren't meant for kids. The rhymes seemed a bit forced, too.

However, I think putting Santa within a snow globe was a clever association with the way we are living n

A charming and darling story that speaks gently, but honestly, about the pandemic and how it's affecting children and their families...especially when it comes to Santa Claus and holiday celebrations.
