He needs my help. And we both want each other. But we're from two completely different worlds.
I'm about to lose my virginity to a complete jerk. But right then I get a letter in the campus mail. It not like the ones my aunt has been sending me all this time. She lives in the forest my mom and I left when I was a baby. I don't remember her but I know she has perfect handwriting. And this envelope looks like someone clawed the address on it. Once I open it, I find out it's from a guy who lives in the forest. I've never met him but he needs my help. He says the whole freaking forest needs my help! But my strict dad has always forbidden me from going there. Along with a lot of other things. It's why my aunt and I always wrote instead of meeting up. And why it's been hard to find someone to give my virginity to! Everyone has always been so afraid of my dad. Including me. But not anymore; now it's time to live my own life. Suddenly I feel compelled to go save my baby cousin. I just hope this stranger can be my guide like he says. Soon he wants to guide me in a lot more than forest ways. I'm glad I didn't give up my first time to that @sshole from school! But I start to whether wonder this hot man is even human. And not just because what he does to my body is out of this world. I think he has answers about my past and a key to my future. But he has to help me rescue the baby for any of us to survive.
Can he help me find out who I am, unlocking the needed spells? Or does his magic only work on my body and not my mind?
An Alpha in a Pear Tree is the first book in the Shifters for Christmas reverse harem paranormal fantasy romance series, which will be released from now until Christmas. It features a handsome alpha wolf shifter and a curvy, sassy virgin.
It has a high heat level of steam mixed with a paranormal fantasy/suspense plotline and a happily for now ending; the entire series will have a happily ever after for Marilyn and everyone involved in her reverse harem.
This ended in a cliffhanger. It is a short read only 71 pages - This book could have used a really good proofreader/editor because there were a lot of errors that took away from the story, wrong names used when talking to and about characters.
With the suspense of revealing secrets to Marilyn, it has potential but this book seemed more focused on her losing her virginity when she is supposedly the only hope for a dying forest and wolf pack.
Like most, I am all for the steamy sex, but it seemed like these sections of the book were just thrown in for space. not because it went with anything being done in the book.
Man I am furious. I went through reading this stupid book only to find out it's a saga and I'd have to read another crappy book to find out what happens. Trust me when I say I don't even care. It is not worth it. I feel like I've been tricked. Can't recommend to anyone.
I didn't realize this ended in a cliffhanger until it was too late, so I was little upset by that, and this book could have used a really good proofreader/editor because there were a lot of errors that took away from the story. Although the secrets to be revealed to Marilyn seem intriguing, this book seemed more focused on her losing her virginity when she is supposedly the only hope for a dying forest and wolf pack. I am all for the steamy times, but they just didn't seem like they fit where they were put in the plot. I hate not giving a 5 star review, and I don't usually review a book unless I can give it at least 4 stars, but I had to say my peace with this one because it does have some very interesting plot points and I really hope the next is better edited and not so discombobulated. For anyone reading my review, please don't let it scare you away from this book because like I said, there was definitely an interesting plot, so give it a try. Mature eyes only!
ONE BEGUILING ADVENTURE!!! Breaking bad! Casey plows forward, busting 'em up and tossing 'em aside, racing the breeze and packing the trail, melding this gem together seamlessly. Divvying up incredibly, well rounded scenario's that punch dead center, ramping up the anticipation and adrenaline with such intensity and precision, thrusting this gem to life brilliantly. Blundering through the trials and tribulations, along with a bounty of plot twists and sleek turns, grounding in it's strength and awe inspiring in it's depth. The chemistry and attraction is intense, smoldering and palpable. The personalities are well matched and balanced with enough flaws for diversity. The scenes are strikingly sharp with such colorful descriptions it gives you a full understanding and realism that flow smoothly. Awesome job Casey, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
This seems to be the first part of a reverse harem story.
Well I was disappointed. I didn't read anywhere that this was part of a reverse harem series. I thought it was just a short Christmas story but I was wrong there too. Also the fact that when Jessalyn was talked about is the story in several places, the main character's name Marilyn was used instead. All I know about the book is that Marilyn has been kept from Bethel forest by her father. But now she recieved a letter stating that she died and the inhabitants need her help. Melchoir is the guy that wrote her. He seems to be a shifter alpha of a wolf pack. Now another wolf shifter has entered the picture.
Really enjoyed this short story Marilyn being asked to go to where her aunt that she has seen lived she feels a pull to the place and sets off in her journey. Melchior needs Marilyn to come back as she needs to help heal the trees and get her cousin back but he has to be careful. Marilyn arrives Melchior takes somewhere safe but won’t answers to her questions all he seems to do is sexually arouse her. The book ends on a cliff hanger need second book to find out what is happening
This character is so focused on losing her virginity it is like she is completely obsessed on it. Everything she says and does is focused on this, throughout this whole book. It becomes a bit much in this short story. Then he is so evasive about everything but barely knows her name and has her naked in the woods. So much doesn’t make sense throughout this book.
While this book has an amazing storyline, I’m turned off by the sexual graphic nature of it. I could barely get through it, if the author had left out the sexual scenes then it would have been an amazing book. Also I felt it was chopped up, barely any of the story, before it was finished.
I was really getting into this story when it cut off! Sorry but I hate cliffhangers especially when you don't know it will be one. The characters were interesting but the story didn't last long enough for me to have much opinion.
While I enjoyed the book there were some downfalls to it. There are a number of typos and names misused which took away from the enjoyment of the read and it ends in a cliffhanger which I didn't realize it would.
This ends in a cliffhanger. I wish I'd known that beforehand. There are so many mistakes (wrong names used all the time) that I just got angry reading this. I feel like I wasted my time and I definitely won't be reading the next ones.
I hate it when an author ends a book without an ending. You have to buy the rest of the series to get the real ending. Ending in a cliff hanger sucks!!
I was slightly disappointed that this was a very short first in series. The start is somewhat unusual, and the cliffhanger mid sentence stop makes me long for more.
This story is all right except for the fact that it isn't a complete story. It ends on a cliffhanger but it doesn't make any sense. There's a beginning but that's it.
It is a great story with mystery, suspense, steamy with a cliffhanger. This story keeps you wanting to continue reading. Can't wait to read the next book.
Romance genre: shifter Part of a series: Length: 77 pages
Plot: Marilyn is in college. She gets a letter from someone named Melchior who tells her that her aunt is dead and she needs to come right away. So of course she takes off to go to the woods because she "feels the pull" (clue #1 that magic is involved). So she goes all Bear Grylls and hoofs it to the woods. In the meantime, Melchior is sitting in a pear tree (that is emphasized a lot - does it mean anything? Who knows?) and watching for her arrival. But there's also an evil witch (?) who is doing things. Mysterious things. Marilyn will save them though.
Character development: Well, both characters were horny. Very, very, very horny. That was their defining characteristic. I like sex in my stories, but sometimes I like a little story too, and I felt like I was missing that here. There was something going on - who was Marilyn wrt to the forest? Who was Jessalyn? Who just lets someone pick up a baby and carry it off? What's going on with the trees? Who was Marla to Marilyn (because I think it's more than just aunt. Or not. Who knows?)? There was too much left unknown, even for a prequel (which the book did not make clear that this was until it was too late (like at the very last page).
Would I read more from this author/in this series: No
This was a bit of a mess. A lot of people are upset because they thought they were getting a story, and they only got part of a story. I think calling it a "happy for now" is very misleading, because there is no happy yet - there's no conclusion for now, just a lot of questions. From this part of the story, you can't tell who is doing what, where, and why, how anyone is related to each other, what sort of paranormal things are going on, etc. And the sex is just shoehorned in there as though that's supposed to make up for it. There was potential, but it was not met here.
This book was a tad weird and ended with a cliff hanger. It was hard enough to hang in there with the story even with as short as it was but then it just left things hanging. I usually like this author's books but this one didn't live up to her others.
