Except for one person. Rae Cleaver.

I have been on a real winning streak when it comes to the YA and NA genre this year. So when I got an invite to read and review this book, I jumped on it...especially after reading that awesome blurb ;)

hell yeah I did gif - Google zoeken

What I did not know, however, was that there was gonna be a major cliffy at the end !! Oh, how I hate cliffies... but I have to say that I am starting to get a bit immune. That's how many I have already been confronted with this year !!! I am starting to get used to them ... Must be a cold day

Eh it was okay but the ending kind of annoyed me.

Play With Me was a long book - at least for me. Yes, I did get bored here and there. Plus the characters were annoying to deal with. It wasn't just the main ones... no the side ones were just as awful. Ugh, I hated them all so much.

In it, you will meet Rae and Clint. She's from the wrong side of the tracks (meaning she's poor) and he's an asshole born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He loves to bully everyone and anyone - especia/>Play

At the start it reminded me of some Jamie Mcguire books, where the MC are troubled. Even though we can connect with the MC's, Rae's friends are somehow shallow, and we don't get to know enough about Michael, or understand his relationship with Allison. Hopefully the second book let's us know more about the secondary characters.

Super good book. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Completely got sucked in very quickly aswell. Play with me" is a reall page turner, I read it in a day approx 12 hours ( thats unusal for me ) and now desperately wanting book #2. Especially after that ending!

Very graphic heart pounding, action.

Fell in love with the two main character's very quickly. Both were extremely well written. I rooted for them both. Even tho our lead main character is a total manwhore dickweed!

I enjoyed this book but found it lacking. I don’t know what it was about it that made me feel that way but I just didn’t have the connection with the characters. I was a little thrown off by the attraction between the two characters. I felt there wasn’t enough lead up to it for me. They just kind of got thrown together. The ending was a bit dramatic to me as well.

This was an amazing story! Had everything!! Terrific character development from the main characters to the supporting characters. Clint is a serious bully jerk, but with everything he’s got going on in his life (possible triggers in this book), you can’t help but love him. I was moved to tears at one point. Rae is a wonderful strong badass. This is a dynamic couple in an equally explosive story. Can’t wait for book 2!

A Great Start!

Although I was initially unsure if this would be a book I’d get into, I can say that by the end, I was hooked! The bullying was juvenile at best in my opinion, but things really changed once Rae and Clint found themselves talking in the parking one night.

Clint acted so childish and as if the world fell before his feet, but eventually you do realize there’s more to him than meets the eye. He may be the bad boy, but he’s got a good heart. And Rae? That girl has a backbone and doesn

I don't usually read high school kids type romance on the regular, but the cover and blurb was calling to me loudly. I unplugged myself from everything and really, really enjoyed reading this book. Rae has been bullied for awhile by none other than Clinton and his so called friends. She lives a life she has no control over, and she can't wait to leave and be the opposite of her mom.

It was actually great to see how Clinton was changing the way he felt inside and him coming to terms wi

Stumbled upon this book and loved every minute of it. I really enjoyed how they weren’t exactly complete opposites that they shared traits even though they were from different sides of the tracks. As well as the readers got to see the growth from Clint towards the end of the book instead in the beginning of the second book!

Really good read

Usually I hate bully books. The herione is pathetic and dont get me started on the hero. But I actually really enjoy this book. Love both the main characters. It was sweet and endearing. The herione was tough and resilient. Great read. Cant wait for the next one.

I really enjoyed the book, overall I know I’ll need more. Leaving us on a cliffhanger like that, made me cry. What is yet to happen to Clint and raes relationship? I just need to know they’re okay and nothing horrible happens again.
3.5 Stars! Play with Me>i> is the debut novel by new author Rebel Hart, and my first read by her. The high school bully plot is what caught my attention to the book.

Rae Cleaver is used to being an outcast in her richly appointed high school. She really doesn't care what people think. Sure, she's poor, but she has her two best friends and a plan for the future. Too bad the school bully won't leave her to be invisible. At first glance, Clinton Clarke has it all. Money, popular

So much potential

Gah!!!! I was really enjoying this up until the first half was drawing close. The banter was right up my alley. There was lots of fun and steamy tension between Rae and Clint. I was digging it. Yeah, Clint sounded unbelievably douchey at times, but I think the author was going for that to show character growth later on. And Rae was pretty likable. She stood up for herself and seemed smart. And there was lots of foreshadowing going on, pretty hard to miss. And then it all went d

First day of their senior year at Riverbed high, and nothing has changed.

Shes still the girl from the wrong side of the tracks who stands out like a sore thumb.

Hes still the bad boy who likes to fight both with words and fists. She as always is his verbal victim.

Worlds apart, like night and day to the untrained eye, but in the moments of quiet and silence they arent so different.

The solace and safe haven of a bench on a night steaked with violence

With the genre of bully romance books being so big right now it's hard to find that next great book that is worth reading and investing your time in. I mean if I'm being honest they are just popping up left and right. And then there is that ah hah moment when you stumbled across a new author who really took this genre and owned it. This book was really a gem. Seriously if I could give it more stars I would. And as a mom who has to carve out time to read I'm glad this book was worth me investing ...more

This book took me by surprise. And a positive one at that. I had never heard of this author and the only reason I bought the book was because a) it was on sale and b) I like high school/bully romances in general.

The book totally topped my expectations - the story was well written in overall and the main characters were believable and relatable. It took me no time at all to like Clint and Rae. I could very well understand Clint and why he was such an ass on the outside, but broken and craving fo

4.5 stars for the book that played with my heart. Clint and Rae's story is everything I love in a bully/ enemies to lovers romance. The angst and delicious tension. I'm going backwards here but off the bat I'm going to say the ending damn near killed me. Be prepared for a brutal cliffhanger BUT, the wait for book two isn't terrible.

Clint is the school bad boy. He's also an obnoxious bully. Rae is the girl from the wrong side of the tracks, attending Clint's prestigious school, with a big bulls

Conflicted with this book

I am currently having a love/hate issue with this book. I loved the concept, the strong heroine, and the broken hero. I hated how there was NO buildup to the sudden change in their relationship. We got one scene, drawn out over a couple chapters. I feel like there was a lot of filler as well. Idk, something just wasn't working for me with the flow of this book. I will say this is the first high school bully romance I have read where I legit believe these characters

What a story this is, we have the main character Rae who is is not like the rest of the school students as far as popularity and close. She lives at home with her mom and abusive boyfriends then she goes to school and deals with it all until one day when the school bad boy decides he's going to pick on her even more. They get into a few different situations and eventually something happens and they connect on a different level which makes you enjoy the story as it progresses. To see how they go ...more

>Book review – Play with Me
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st in the Diamond in the Rough series and ends in a cliffhanger. Rae is poor with an abused mom and her abusive boyfriend. She is bullied at school by rich boy, Clint. He is secretly beaten at home. He bullies at school to gain control of something in his life. His metamorphosis is really interesting. He realizes he is just the entertainment for his friends. They only like him around for that reason only. Whe

Rebel wrote such hearty and meaty characters with Clint and Rae. You develop such strong feelings for what they go through outside of school and each other. I started off hating Clint because he was the perfect bully while loving Rae because your heart goes out to her sweetness and innate goodness. You see how their “family” and background shape them into the people they are today. The background characters also cover all areas of emotions. There are some you love from the beginning while the ot ...more

Ok. So at first I was extremely unsure about this book. The bullying was a bit childish and Clint was cocky and arrogant to the point of seeming desperate. BUT!!! When the bench scene happens with Clint and Rae my whole perspective of the book changes. I felt at first Rebel Hart was aiming for dark bully but was playing it a bit too safe. This book could have been 5 stars if not for that first part where Clint is the bully. The side characters who were bullies was written well though but if she ...more

Clint and Rae's story is not easy, but what great love is?

Rae is the poor girl who is just trying to do the best she can, and Clint is the rich boy doing the same. They find part of themselves in each other when they can finally sit down and talk at the park.
It's nice to see this book has Clint's perspective in it just as much as Rae's. We get to really see why Clint is the bully he has become which isn't always clear in other bully books. Often times as a reader it is easy to

I’ll just start by saying that i am totally in love with this book cover! Gahh super hot!
Ugh clint is such a douche nugget I cannot even right now! Lol
Okay so clint is a complex character and i can see where he struggles but also what a douche 😂
This book definitely put me in my feels especially when clint began to bully Rae just because she’s from the wrong side of the tracks!
They both have a lot of stuff going on in their lives which shot me straight to the heart because damn

Clint and Rae’s story is epic!!!! Enemies to Lovers stories are always get and Clint is the schools bad boy and Rae is just a girl trying to get through the rest of her high schools days before she wants to get out her town. Clint is your typical rich boy while Rae is poor and lives with her mom and her mom’s abusive boyfriend. Clint gets a thrill from getting a raise out of everyone and realizes just how much he gets under Rae’s skin and he starts pushing her even farther. Until one day they ac ...more

OK, so I've been waiting for the completion of this series. I've jumped on the bully bandwagon and can't seem to get enough of them. I think I hyped myself up too much for this book cause it was disappointing. I read the description "CRUEL INTENTIONS meets AFTER". After is my favorite book and Cruel Intentions is one of my favorite movies. This book is nothing like either of them. Now that description is for books 2 and 3 but it's very doubtful that this series is gonna change that much.
