Wow, I really liked this book. When my sister suggested that I read and review it, I wasn't sure what it would be like. I researched the author and he seemed legit and it was being published by Sourcebooks, which is a publisher that I've come to greatly respect over the years I've been reviewing books (since 2007). I decided to find a review copy and read. I was not disappointed.

Most people who say they want to improve themselves never do anything about it. They wait for some outside force to

I had heard about this publication and have eagerly anticipated its release. Such a compelling read! I have been reading Robert Glazer's Friday Forward weekly blog for months and this book is a clear and natural extension of those blogs. The only difference, so far, is that the book is even more of a motivator than the blogs...which I didn't think was possible. For any new business owner, seasoned business owner, happy employee/team member, or anyone else striving to offer quality and be known ...more

Considering this is a quick read, there is actually a lot of depth here. I subscribe to Robert Glazer's weekly email "Friday Forward" and have found it very useful.

This book is packed with some sage advice and tips on how to develop oneself.

Its essence is about how to elevate yourself by increasing your four capacities : Spiritual, Emotional, Intellectual and Physical.

P.S. Don't let "spiritual" put you off, it's not necessarily what you think.

The author has a rare gift for writing in a clear and relatable manner. I've enjoyed his Friday Forwards emails since their debut, and in this book he ties together and builds on themes initially explored in those emails. The book has inspiring stories and practical advice that is often applicable in both the personal and professional spheres. I highly recommend!

I've subscribed to Robert's weekly newsletter 'Friday Forward' for about a year and a half now and not once has it been undeserving of its spot in my inbox. To say I was a little excited when I heard he was coming out with a book would be an understatement.

Like in his newsletter, in Elevate, Rob does a great job of taking evidence-based ideas and relating them to everyday life. Through stories and actionable advice, he explores the concept of 'capacity building', the strengthening of one's

A very aesthetically pleasing short book, highlighting 4 aspects of life: Spiritual, Intellectual, Physical and Emotional. One aspect supporting the other, it provides some practical exercises but doesn't go into too much detail.. Worth reading

Glazer encourages us to build our capacity. He means not just doing more but doing more of the right things. He divides life into four areas and gives training and practical suggestions for growth in each of them

Spiritual capacity is about understanding who we are and knowing what we want most in life. He helps reveal core values and our core purpose, leading to the standards by which we live.

Intellectual capacity is about our ability to think, learn, plan, and execute. He writes about having a

A snappy, engaging how-to guide for a better life, Glazer's book should be the next read for anyone serious about growing as a business leader and human being. Each section is neatly organized, packed with inspiring/fascinating stories, and closes with simple - and powerful - action steps you can take immediately. Within 10 minutes of starting the book, I had already completed the WHY App assessment, gaining valuable perspective on who I am and what drives me! If that was the only thing I got ...more

This inspiring book begins with the simple definitions of the words Elevate and Capacity. Robert Glazer then explains the technique of Capacity Building: the method by which individuals seek, acquire, and develop the skills and abilities to consistently perform at a higher level in pursuit of their innate potential. With this groundwork, he then discusses developing each of the four types of capacities: Spiritual (your core values and core purpose), Intellectual (your ability to think, learn and ...more

Read this book to become a better version of yourself!

I enjoyed reading this book and it inspired me to challenge myself more often in my life and career. It is written in a fun and accessible way but the messages within it are serious and powerful. I heard about this book when listening to an interview of the author on Careerblast

Glazer does a good job of pulling together ideas for how we can optimise our performance but also get a lot more enjoyment out of our work. The author brings together ideas developed in other books, articles and TED Talks and in doing so he has written a very accessible book which is an excellent guide to being both productive and happy. Id consider this to be an excellent starter guide to personal planning and development.

If like me, you have previously read a lot about the importance of

It's not often that a project digs so deeply into the individual aspects of our opportunities for personal growth yet delivers it in a way that feels as though it can be implemented at any time. And this is exactly what I took away from Bob Glazer's newest book, Elevate. Following closely along with Bob's career, Elevate is the culmination of much of his insights from the past while also looking ahead to our future opportunities for personal growth. As someone who has particularly struggled with ...more

He's experience and insights go deeper than mere steps, but navigating mindset changes that enable us to develop better relationships which last. I loved reading this book. It was both enjoyable and a fairly quick read with a lot of meat. Bob takes the time to break down the four types of capacity that the reader needs to keep in mind when looking to elevate themselves both professionally and personally, which go hand in hand.

This book challenges and inspires you to take inventory of your own life as well as shares several examples at the end of each chapter steps you can take to challenge yourself to grow and elevate within your own

Robert Glazer is the rare leader who focuses on how we can help each other be our best. I've been a fan of his Friday Forward for years now and, upon reading an advance copy of Elevate, was so impressed by how it distills the concepts of achievement, personal growth, self-reflection and the impact we can have on others into a fast, easy, fulfilling read. This is a must read for anybody who wants to understand themselves better, discover what they want most, and make the changes necessary to ...more

The book you WANT to read when you feel you're on a neverending spinning wheel, with no power to change anything. Robert Glazer has the capacity to show you, with simple and inspiring words, that YOU CAN CHANGE and you can get off that wheel and on board of a satisfying life, both professionally and personally.

The text along is wonderfully completed with practical advice and resources to help you move forward, one step at a time. Happy to have come across this book and one I plan to re-read

For everyone who knows deep down they can be more. Those are the opening words of this book. That message permeates throughout as Robert Glazer takes you on a journey for what he calls Capacity Building, in four different areas of your life. Elevate is the best book I have read in a very long time. It is full of unvarnished truths that force you to examine yourself and make the changes that will elevate you. I kept stopping to send snippets of the wisdom to my family so that they would benefit too and I am happy that they are now keen to get their own copies. This is such a great book that I'm already making a list of people (especially young ones) who need to read it and take their lives to a new level.

I thought I would read one quick chapter but ended up not putting it down and read the book in one night. It's a short quick and motivational read that left me inspired and excited to put in place some actionable next steps that were clearly outlined in each section of the book. It takes all of Bob's motivational concepts in one perfect hardcover book. Elevate...I promise you won't be disappointed!

An easy and quick read - brings up some interesting tips to keep in the back of the head - biggest takeaway for me was on discovering purpose for your life - and how 98% of us have zero clarity on that. I loved Glazer's way of making a point and backing it up with examples or quotes from qualified sources. It is a quick one-sitting read that will jump-start anyone who wants to lead a more fulfilling purposeful life. The guidelines provided are insightful since most of us need (or at least appreciate) step by step instructions.

Elevate gives you an easy to follow framework on how to improve yourself to reach your greatest potential. The book is an easy read (designed to be read in 1-2 hours) and gives you real-world examples on ways to improve yourself. I especially liked the homework sections after each chapter to put into action what was just talked about.
