It has been my goal for the past few months to seek out more books that would help me grow in my faith, so when I saw this particular book, I jumped at it thinking: “this is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for!” And boy was I right!

My fiance and I had been trying to do a Bible study together over Facetime while he was stationed in North Carolina, but it was hard to find one that was a quick read but also went into deeper discussions to help us grow. So when we found Core 52, we decided to give it

Perhaps you want to know the Bible but reading it seems intimidating. Maybe you know that reading the Bible is good for you and helps in personal transformation but have no idea where to begin. Maybe you know the Bible contains valuable truths but don't attend a church so do not hear sermons.

Moore has created a book covering the 52 major teachings of the Bible, each chapter taking about fifteen minutes. Reading through the book will give you a good representation of the teachings of the entire

This book is not just about building your Bible IQ in a year like it says on the cover, but it also provides insights that as a Christian made reading the Bible interesting and it got me reading more verses, chapters and looking into the context of scenarios written.
Thanks Netgalley for granting me a digital copy of this book. It's a must-read for anyone looking to explore the Bible and increase their knowledge.

Core52 is a new book and online resource available from pastor and teacher Mark Moore. This book is "a Fifteen-Minutes Daily Guide to Build Your Bible IQ in a Year." Each of the 52 chapters focuses on a key verse and doctrine from the Bible. Each chapter focuses on an essay that provides an introduction to the verse or concept. After each essay, a This Week checklist appears which provides the daily assignments for the week. Day 1 is to read the essay. Day 2 is to memorize the verse of the week. ...more

Core 52 by Mark E. Moore is a unique way to increase your Biblical I.Q. in just 52 simple lessons. One lesson per week. I have always wanted a way to make myself learn more about the Bible. I think I know a lot about the Bible, but I can always learn more about this everlasting Book. First, Moore writes a essay to give reader something to think about before diving into the actual Bible verses. I think the concept is wonderful and great for Bible learners who want to grow without spending a lot ...more

Core 52: A fifteen-Minute Daily Guide to Build Your Bible IQ in a Year is that book. The format of the Bible Study keeps me going. There is an essay centered around a key verse. A few years ago I was teaching a Life Group and made a comment like "and you all know what David did to Goliath". Half of the group didn't know. Not only were the stories foreign to them but the concepts they taught were not know either.

I was given an ebook of "Core 52" by Mark E. Moore. This book takes the 52 weeks of the year and breaks up what the author considered as the key 52 discussions of the church. I must admit, at first glance I was distracted by his introduction. For one it almost

Pastor and Bible teacher, Mark Moore, has written a great tool for all Christians, new and mature. Core 52 is a year-long guide to the Bible. It enables a new Christian to get a good grasp and overview of the Bible and the mature Christian to grow deeper in their understanding of the Bible. For all Christians it is a one-stop-shop for memorizing key Scripture passages and a practical daily devotional.

Core 52 is divided into, you guessed it, 52 weeks. Each week starts out with a question such as

Core 52 is a wonderful guide to learn more about God's Word, the Bible. The author, Mark E. Moore is a teaching pastor in Phoenix, AZ and has been a professor at several Christian colleges and universities, as well as being the author and co-author of many books. In Core 52 readers will find a well-organized plan to, as the title suggests, build your Bible IQ. I liked the easy to understand language and how the author has laid out the information in a 52-week structure to guide the reader into ...more

Do you ever wish you knew more about the Bible? Can you explain why covenant is important not only for the Jews but for Christians? Why do we have baptism? What really happened at creation and what will heaven be like?

In Core 52: A Fifteen-Minute Daily Guide to Build Your Bible IQ in a Year, author Mark E. Moore tackles these questions and more, providing what amounts to a 52-week course on Christian discipleship. The book starts at the very beginning of the Old Testament and continues all the

I obviously did not use this as a weekly Bible study supplement :) I just read through the essays in order to review, but I do like the format.

This book helps you dive into main doctrines of the Christian faith, memorize verses, and spend time in the Word. A lot of devotionals (and that's kind of what this is) don't emphasize getting into the Word itself.

As far as the essays go, I was impressed at the level of neutrality Moore was able to maintain. There was something early on that had me

This book is set up for you to spend 15 minutes a day, five days a week, for a year, in order to increase your Bible IQ. There are small assignments for each day that include things to read, memorize, or meditate on. There are bonus book recommendations if you want to learn more about a topic.
The author feels that if you’re confident in your Bible knowledge, you’ll be more apt to share or engage others with it. This book can definitely help with that. This is not a typical

In the introduction to this book author Mark E. Moore tells us that eighty percent of people who attend church desire to know the Bible better and that sixty percent who aren't connected with any church also want to be better educated in the Bible. Core 52 is certainly a great place to start because Moore has devised a plan that will help us build our Bible IQ in one year. Each week he shares specific Bible scripture, an essay to go with it, and tips to help you further your understanding of ...more

This book is an excellent resource to use for memorizing new Scripture weekly, and for putting it into practical use. Ranging from topics like Creation, Jesus and Moses, Covenants, Communion, Baptism, Leadership, Racism, Resurrection, and more... there are answers to many of the questions people ask about Christian faith. We know that various denominations interpret some things differently than others, but this book does not appear to sway the reader to a particular denominational belief but ...more

This is an excellent Bible study guide. It is written in an easy manner. It is broken into 52 weeks with each subdivided into 5 days. Do not feel overwhelmed when reading the entire essay on the first day. The subsequent days involve memorizing a verse, reading a chapter, meditating on verses and reading another related but shorter section of the Bible.

The author makes the reading interesting. Some days, I wanted to keep reading beyond what was suggested. As an example, when discussing Jesus

The title reminded me of some of those exercise regimes out there. You know the kind that's a pack of 8-10 DVDs, each designed to make strengthen your core. Well this book is kinda like that, but for the heart, soul and mind. 52 truths in the Bible. 52 weeks to read, study and really go deep into God's Word. It's quick reading. I can totally handle that! One chapter a week? It part contains a short essay, a Bible verse to memorize, a Bible story, other verses that relate to that topic and ways ...more

Growing up Catholic, I went to church every Saturday and listened closely. I was confirmed and felt I had a strong belief. However, I always felt inadequate reading the Bible or talking to people who always seemed to be able to quote scripture flawlessly. The title alone of this book intrigued me, but after diving in, it was SO much more than I had ever hoped for. Mark Moore created a series of 52 questions, and it is designed to be read in 15 minutes a day. Each week starts with an essay and ...more

Core 52 is for spiritual health what CrossFit is for physical fitness. In just fifteen minutes a day, you can master the fifty-two most important verses in the Bible. Most of us want to know the Bible better, but few reach our goal, often because we’re too busy or we don’t know where to start. Core 52 removes both barriers, offering a commonsense solution that fits into our busy lives. Mark E. Moore mentions that eighty percent of people of people who attend church desire to know the Bible

To help strengthen your spiritual core

My rating is 4.5 stars

Pastor Mark E. Moore wrote Core 52 as a way for everyday Christians to learn the Bible through daily readings, memorization of Scripture, and prayer. He selected what he considers the most important teachings of the Bible and has organized them into a collection of essays designed to be read one per week. One day a week is dedicated to reading the essay, the next to memorizing scripture, then short Bible readings and practical

At first I thought this was going to be a book for people who didn't know anything about the Bible but there was a lot of great information in here that even someone who's been taught and read the Bible their whole life like me can discover. For instance, I liked how he explained what a verse would have meant to Jews in their culture because most of us don't really understand all of the nuances if we're not from that culture. He also gives examples from history or Jewish literature. Each chapter ...more

Core 52: A Fifteen Minute Daily Guide to Build Your Bible IQ in a Year my Mark E Moore. Mark has dug out the 52 core themes in the bible for us to cover in a year. Surveys tell us that most people want to know the bible better but don’t have or make the time and don’t know where to start. This was a good summation for myself. I have never made it through a read the bible in a year.

For each of the 52 core themes, Mark includes

2- Additional verses for meditation
3- Action items for

A particular line from the introduction of this book seemed to jump out at me.

“There’s a reason so many people want to know the Bible better: they know the Bible will make them better.”

This is precisely why I wanted to read Core 52, because in doing so, I gain better knowledge of my Bible that ultimately results in a better me.

Spending 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week, reading the provided questions and essay answers in this book, most certainly helps me know and understand the Bible better.

This book has been an encouragement to me as I've read through it this summer. It's actually one of the few books I know I will go through again, possibly each year.

It's like many of the devotional books written to take just fifteen minutes which is a great morning jolt before heading off for the day. Except that it's not a devotional book! This book gives you deep lessons in those fifteen minutes to help you know and understand your Bible more. People say they don't have time before work or

Core has many meanings in the dictionary but I found it to mean foundational in the title of this book. You will get a foundational understanding of God’s Holy Word. All it takes in this busy world we live in is fifteen minutes a day to read and study a chapter. Then in a year’s time you will have 52 lessons to help understand the Bible more. The first chapter starts with creation and chapter 52 ends with Heaven. In between are chapters covering fundamental ideas from the Bible such as: Knowing ...more

I appreciated the concept behind the book-that there are fifty-two core verses in the Bible that form a foundation for what the entire Bible teaches. That could be overwhelming-to tackle that in one year, but I found this book to be very user-friendly. It's set up to explore each topic for five days, but in easily "digestible" bits and pieces.

It works for me. The essays are interesting to read, and the Scripture reading is appropriate. One of the assignments each week is to memorize the key

Even though I have read through the Bible more than once, I am learning new things and am challenged and inspired by this book.
