Baby Daddy Mystery by Daisy Pettles is the second book of the cozy Shady Hoosier Detective Agency mystery series. While our characters have returned in this second book of the series it does feature an all new mystery to be solved so this could easily be read as a standalone if choosing to do so.

Our two main characters of the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency mystery series are a couple of “elderly” ladies, Ruby Jane Waskom and Veenie Goens. Best friends all their lives the pair lean on each other

Baby Daddy Mystery: Shady Hoosier Detective Agency (Book 2)
(Shady Hoosier Detective Agency #2) by Daisy Pettles is hilarious! (Come on, even her writer's name is clever!)
This is book two in the series and is just as funny as book one. This one starts out chasing down who is the real baby daddy, then a murderer, a blackmailer, and then even more! It is non-stop craziness with the zany and colorful characters, plot, and hilarious situations the two aged women get into investigating crimes or getti

This is a funny story about two old ladies that, among other things, likes to solve a good mystery.
Thank you Netgalley for this funny book.

Loved it! This one was just as funny, if not more, than the first one! Don't read if you are afraid of folks looking at you for laughing out loud or snorting with some of the antics in the book. You have been warned!

Spring has sprung in Pawpaw County and it seems most everyone has an itch that needs to be scratched. RJ and Veenie are once again on the case of finding out if someone is truly the baby daddy when their next case lands on the porch, literally! They have to find out what the heck is

The Baby Daddy Mystery is the second book in the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency Mystery series and is just as much fun as the first one.

Ruby Jane, RJ, and Veenie are such a hoot and made me laugh and giggle while they are investigating the request for child support that Avonelle Ollis, the bank president, receives when her husband passes away. But of course we also get our share of murder.....and watching the two older ladies nosying their way to the solution of the mystery is a real treat.

This is the second hilarious mystery in the Shady Hoosier Detective series, bringing back Ruby Jane and Veenie, senior detectives cracking down on crime in the sticks. These ladies are hilarious as they interact with cheating husbands, hit bingo night and always make it in time for their next heart-stopping meal...

This was another hilarious installment in this series that I started reading last year via NetGalley. I love how slapstick everyone in the town is, even the perps. Veenie absolutely cracks me up when she sticks her dentures out and likes to scare people with them. She is such a hoot, but she knows what she's doing.

The girls had four cases they were juggling at one time, and somehow at the end, all the cases came together. One death was ruled natural, but there was another killing, and I definit

Well, this book is an absolute hoot. It's brilliant, packed full of wit, comedy and delightfully eccentric characters.
Ruby Jane and Veenie are private investigators working for Harry Shades, whose inability to resist women means he's temporarily had to leave town. The two mature ladies therefore take on a case concerning the Apple family - or rather, cases. They throw themselves into their duties with energy and determination, and whilst their means might be a little unconventional they're certa

A dead body on the porch, some clucking hens and a handsome rooster, old women trying to impress an equally old and handsome man, a scam, Ma and Peepaw Horton's pies, extramarital affairs ... phew! So many things going on at once and these ladies are stronger than you think! They can run, jump and even 'manhandle' a criminal so don't underestimate them.

Harry, the 'founder' of Shady Hoosier Detective agency is on a run. No, he's not a criminal but he's well known for sleeping with ladies - the ma

This is the second book in the ‘Shady Hoosier Detective Agency’ series. The first book is the ‘Ghost Busting Mysteries’, although I haven’t yet read it. This second book, named “Baby Daddy Mystery: Shady Hoosier Detective Agency” was such a quirky, mad and crazy read and I did not feel disadvantaged in any way not having read book one first.

There was so much fun and hilarity packed into this cozy mystery that I was never bored and I wanted to continue reading. The characters’ antics were highly

Great second novel of an awesome series!!!

Baby Daddy Mystery is another example of the author’s excellence and talent. Her stories are not just simple characters and plots, as a matter of fact they are deep and wonderful. Yes, everything appears to be simplistic, that’s the author’s desire, but underneath it all there is so much more like a watermelon, first the green ring outside, then the white layer, and at last the red delicious fruit inside. Allow yourself to taste the author’s delicious cr

Baby Daddy Mystery by Daisy Pettles is the second book in Shady Hoosier Detective Agency but can be read as a standalone.
I haven't read the first book and still could manage to follow the story and references to the previous book.

I really liked that the main sleuths are elderly ladies but very young at heart. Their way of live, humor and zeal for live suggests someone much younger.
I also enjoyed the setting and I absolutely loved good old southern quirkiness and specific kind of humor.

I read BOOK 1 in this new series and fell in love with this quirky little Indiana town -- Knobby Waters -- and the characters who live there. Two old ladies take jobs to supplement their social security -- they need''twinkie money," and get into all sorts of messes. The language is so fresh and colorful and the characters so vivid they pop off the pages. If you love porch stories and rural life as it's lived with wit and humor you'll enjoy rattling around in the 60's Chevy the old gals drive hun ...more

If you're looking for a humorous mystery then look no further! This 2nd book in the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency series was just as fun as the first! The author holds nothing back, delivering lots of laugh out loud moments, while creating so many twists and turns that I was kept guessing until the very end!! The main characters are older ladies which gives a unique voice to the story.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series!!

I liked the blurb for Baby Daddy Mystery and I couldn't wait to read this cozy mystery. With senior sleuths and "hanky-panky pants" it sounded like a fun read. And it really was funny to watch these two elderly women solve murders, find baby daddies and blackmailers. During their investigations, I expected it to be hard for them to be objective since they knew everyone in town. But that just made it easier for them. They knew that many of them couldn't keep their pants zipped or their skirts dow ...more

I was lucky enough to read a pre-release copy of this 2nd Shady Hoosier book - Baby Daddy Mystery.

Our favorite senior sleuths, RJ and Veenie, are drafted back into action by the local town bank owner, Avonelle Apple. Seems Avonelle’s late husband might have been fooling around and left a few offspring that fell a little further away from the Apple tree, and Avonelle has gotten a letter requesting child support payments! Right around the same time, RJ’s daughter Joyce is in emoji hysteria ‘cos sh

Ruby Jane "RJ" Waskom and Lavinia "Veenie" Goens are left to run the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency after their boss, Harry Shades, took off. They have their hands full staying clear of Shap Reynolds, who is after Harry.

I found the language in this story really interesting - and very funny. Very idiomatic of these rural US areas.
The story was full of all sorts interesting phrases and sayings and one of my favourite was about Children and Genetics:
God is blind and baking a cake with whatever is left over in the larder - the ingredients are OK but proportions are off. This explained a lot about this town and its surroundings.
Too much nooky and who knew the father of any child was - they didn't like to travel far

The big question is In the title- who is the Baby’s Daddy? I kept changing my mind and was wondering until the end! This second part in the Shady Hoosiers Detective series is better than the first. I want Ruby Jane and Veenie as friends- smart, great sense of humor and lovers of junk food! Although I am not from a town like Knobby Waters I felt like I belonged. Daisy Pettles is a fantastic story teller and I can imagine sitting on a porch swing listening to her tell the tales of this small town. ...more

Another really fun and funny installment in this new series about senior sleuths. Having read the first one, I could settle in and enjoy the characters a lot more this time while they sniffed out clues to several mysteries. If it sometimes seems a bit far-fetched, that's likely because it is - and well worth it.

This is one of my new favourite series, and I can't wait for the next one!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the ARC to read and review. All opinions are strictly my own

Veenie and Ruby Jane are a riot, they are hilarious, fun and efficient in their somewhat chaotic investigating style. These two elderlies take their job seriously, but I tell you the older folks in this town are a horny lot, they are more active than the young ones. This has been an amusing and intriguing cozy with the girls' wacky ways of doing things.

Down in the back hill country of Pawpaw County, Indiana, it's spring and apparently everyone has had enough of the cold weather and can't wait to get out and do some of that birds and bees thing. Ruby Jane Waskom, better known as RJ, and Lavinia Goens, (Veenie), are busy again chasing down low-down, cheating sidewinders and deadbeat daddies at the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency when Avonelle Apple asks the pair to find out if, indeed, she has progidy heretofore unannounced. Another Laugh Your Sox Off cozy mystery from Pawpaw County, Indiana. It seems like almost every male in the area is a philandering fool, and we won't even get into a discussion about the women. But it seems that only the males are the ones getting dead which makes a lot of work and laughter for our favorite senior sleuthing team of Ruby Jane and Veenie. No spoilers needed, and the characters certainly are which you can tell from the publisher's blurb. If you need some howling good laughs in a my ...more

An amusing, light-hearted mystery. The terminology, character names, location names, etc. are also quite funny. It may have helped that I am a former Hoosier and am somewhat familiar with southern Indiana. I look forward to reading the next one. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.

This is a fun book crammed full of mysteries, crazy situations and outlandish characters with goofy names. RJ and Veenie navigate the Hoosier countryside to solve murders, embezzlement, blackmail and still have time to trackdown a wayward husband or two. It's all a lot of fun and belly laughs. Definitely a fun book and I will be reading the next in the series.
