A Joyfully Jay review.

2.25 stars

So I’m not really sure where to start with Ripping Off the Mask. The premise was great, but in the end there was so much about it that didn’t work for me that it was almost a DNF. The author does a good of introducing the characters and giving their romance a foundation of plausibility. And this novel is nice and long for those of you who enjoy a meatier story. But for me, the problems started on page one and they never really resolve themselves. The author has a

This is a Police story that has it all. Sergeant Cooper Brandt is shot chasing a robbery suspect. His partner Silvio Leopold, who is also shot, dies. Because of his friendship, partnership and circumstances of the situation, Cooper is going out of his mind with guilt. He is also determined to recover so he can catch a murderer. Dr. Westley James has just transferred to the area. He is a leading physical therapist, who specializes in aqua therapy. The first meeting

Harper Jewel's Best Book Yet!

I have always loved Harper's work! I have had the profound privilege of being a beta and ARC reader in the past. Warning you will need some tissues to read this wonderful novel. I don't want to give any spoilers, but the book profoundly affected me. This is a M/M book but the love between the characters is undeniable. I absolutely loved the plot. Honestly, this is one of the rare times a novel surprised me. Usually with many authors I know the ending before I am eve
Unmask Me Anytime, Baby

There isn't anything I didn't like about this story. It was really phenomenal. Cooper tugged on all my heartstrings. There is something to be said for someone who is a professional self-flagellator. I was pulling for him to pull his head out of his ass the whole time. In some ways it was exhausting, but I was invested in his journey and that made it easier.

Westley was a rock for Coop. There was a lot going on. A lot that had to be hard to deal with. Cooper certainly didn't

I loved this book, it gripped me from the very start. The twist (no spoilers) was great and so unexpected. The connection between Coop and Wes is just hot and their relationship though not always smooth running allows you to see how great they are together. Its fast paced and flows really well, the snark between the characters had me chuckling out loud. I would definitely recommend this as a reader not to be missed.

Wow, talk about a book that completely blew me away, broke my heart, put it back together again only to make me cry again before it was over. This is one of those books that if you do not read it then you are truly missing out on something amazing and so VERY SPECIAL. This is definitely a book that will stay with me long after I completed it. It was truly an incredible read that was beautifully written.

This is not your typical love story nor is it your typical mystery either. It is a bit of both

Ripping Off The Mask starts with action. Coop is with his (work) partner, Silvio, when they are called to a bank robbery. Others are on their way, or already there, chasing the suspects. Silvio goes off by himself as he is faster than Coop. That leads to them both being shot, only Silvio doesn't make it. What he does do is to open up a hornet's nest within Coop, as he tries to come to terms with everything that has happened, and what he did.

I liked Coop and Wes when they weren't talking. In fact

A steamy romance about a real man.

It reeks of testosterone, in a really great way. This is no sissy story, it has heart. Big heart. There's a surreal, almost spiritual dimension to this tale of true grit. What's real and what's a dream? We're told not to seek the dead, but what if they seek us? Didn't that happen to the Lord on the mount? Speaking of Whom, how much alleged wrath is really just the devil in disguise? When does reality lie and fantasy tell the truth? No spoilers here, just more q

2.5 The premise was well thought of but the dialog and the actions Cooper took toward the end of the tale were quite off. A PO would not allow for a perp to take him without a fight. I was expecting for Coop to put his seatbelt on, drive like a racing demon, and smash the Mustang against a wall, pole, tree, etc. on the way. Even I know that's what one should do when kidnapped. Silvio's actions at the end was another jaw-dropping moment.
Otherwise, the story was enjoyable.

Ugh. This got a 5 star rating from Boy Meets Boy reviews so I snatched it up. Nothing really worked for me in this book. The dialogue was unrealistic. The characters were flat and their actions unbelievable. There was a strange paranormal aspect that didn’t end up working for me either. Overall very disappointing.
