Jillian Issayë is a cursed assassin with a habit of stirring up trouble wherever he goes, and sometimes, as if fate can’t leave him alone—trouble finds him. Leading an already unusual life where seemingly impossible things happen to him, it is not too much of a surprise when he finds himself face to face with a dark and twisted mythical creature.

He had always wanted to see a living unicorn, but would never have expected to run into a black specimen with a terrible hunger for flesh and blood. Any elf with a sane mind would run from such a thing, but Jillian has learned to embrace what life throws at him, and he cannot let such a gem of nightmares escape him.

After all… he needs a new horse, and this one seems perfect. How bad can it possibly be?

A interesting short story about a flesh eating unicorn. I didn’t know what to expect but I liked it. The background lore was well placed, leaving one wanting to know more of the world.

The book cover got me really intrigued. I kinda like it but I'm also a bit afraid of it especially with that eye peering into your soul before it devours it :D

It has 6 awesome drawings that set the mood very well without giving away too much. Very few books have illustrations so this was a huge bonus for me.

The writing is light, easy to understand, there's banter (haha I wrote barter at first) and there are comic moments and it seems the main character kinda knows what he's doing but not really so when he gets in trouble it can surprise the reader. It's a good feeling of anything can go either very well or very badly.

The action is pretty intense and has its funny moments and the ending isn't the usual drama or happy cliche.
