Last Words, where Non-Fiction meets Fiction, and the lines in between are blurred by forbidden love.

Amelia - 1942:

The inside of my closet held the last bit of my freedom before I was torn from my home and shoved onto a dark train.

Our destination was even darker. “Women and children to the right. Men to the left,” they shouted at us.

Everything was taken from me,

LAST WORDS: is a contemporary romance standalone novel by Shari J. Ryan where non fiction meets fiction, and the lines in between are blurred by forbidden love.
The book has dual plot lines which transition from Amelia’s life written in diary format which follows her from her captivity in 1942 within the confines of a nazi prison camp to present day surrounding her granddaughter Emma.

3 stars lots of potential! I liked it very much and the forbidden love aspect was a big plus. However I felt the book had more to say than what the author gave us. The romance was strong, the writing was good. It kept me interested.

One of my all-time favorite books!

***SPOILER-FREE REVIEW***

"Amelia, you are all that's worth fighting for."

This book is what I'd call a dementor - soul sucking the shit out of you, and just like all those wizards and witches in Harry Potter, I did nothing to stop it. I laid there bearing my soul and embraced the feels, the heart clenching moments, the tears, breaking my heart in the process. Because this story was just wow... unforgettable... poignant... brilliant... it left me speechless! T

It's been a few week's since I finished Last Words and I'm still trying to find my words on this EPIC read.

Shari says this is where Non-Fiction and Fiction gather up and blur the lines of forbidden love- she wasn't lying on that.

My heart stopped at times throughout the chapters. It was a drug that I couldn't put down. I needed more... I had to know not only Emma's story but Amelia's. The bond, the connection, the twist, the love, the hurt- it all flowed into one great masterpiece.

This book... I'm still at a loss for words. Such a beautiful, powerful, and emotional story. I received this book as a beta reader, and I am happy to say this is the first time I won't need to get an ARC after changes have been made. THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!

Shari really out did herself. I can not wait for this to be released so others can read it.

I have read over a couple thousand books in this year, and this masterful piece of work is in my top 3. Poignant, stark heartwrenching, emotional, a tale of forbidden love that wouldn't die across the years. This is a powerful and provocative novel. It TEACHES us not to ever forget the words, touches, feelings, glances, closeness, that through even the hurt and pain you can find a forever love. Phenomenal storyline dynamics and fantastic characters make this a MUST READ for 2017.

Oh my gosh I literally was up all night reading this novel. It was so worth the lack of sleep. I started reading this novel early in the day and could not force myself to stop reading. It was so good I wish I could go back force myself to slow down and reread it an savor every moment. I loved this novel. It was a wonderful slow burn that just grabbed my attention and would not let me go. I am so glad I read this novel. I loved all of the characters, they all touched my heart. Last words is a poignant tale of love, loss and finding your one true love. Time, pain, suffering- nothing matters when you've found "the one".
Last Words is compellingly readable with characters who make you laugh, swoon, become enraged and fall head over heels in love with!
This is Shari's best written novel to date. So grab a tissue and a mug of coffee and sit back and be mesmerized by this wonderful book.

6 "mcdreamy" stars from me!

You know the feeling when you just don't know what to do with yourself because of all sorts of heavy stuff are about to burst in your heart? Well, this is me right now. When Shari first contacted me, I was thrilled to meet a Jewish author from the states that wants to keep the memory alive. But now - after finishing her book - I feel so grateful and fortunate for the chance that I been given.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Last Words is probably going to be a very different book than anything you have read in a good long while. Last Words if told though the journals of Emma's grandmother who lived thought the Holocaust and has hidden this journal from her entire family until she is convinced she is dying and can't be saved. Once in a blue moon an author comes along who gives you a piece of her heart and soul through her work. Last Words by Shari J. Ryan was that book for me. It wasn't just another book to read but a journey of love, immeasurable loss and unwavering hope. Amelia's story will break your heart but also lift your spirits. Her granddaughter Emma was given the gift of reading her grandma's sacred written words tucked away in a journal for years. Amelia's story is hard to hear but it must be heard. Amelia ...more

This review is for “Last Words,” by Shari J. Ryan

Disclaimer: I am Shari's BIGGEST fan. But I am also, as I've said before, above all-- honest; if I didn't like it, I wouldn't give it a five-star review just because, or say as much about it as I am about to say. Hope you're ready...

First, let me just say that I am not sure Mrs. Ryan is capable of writing ANYTHING LESS than a 5-star story. Granted, I haven't read ALL of her books and novellas (yet), but her writing style, no matter the genre/sub-g

In a genre flooded with similar storylines, Last Words sets itself apart from the masses with a taboo, second chance love story like nothing I've ever read before. It is a riveting story about loss, resilience and hope. We get not one, but two love stories in Last Words through two different POV's, Amelia's story takes place in the past and Emma's chapters are in the present. Amelia's story in was difficult to read at times while we learned of the horrors she endured during WWII. But I was rivet ...more

I received the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

I love stories about the Holocaust and this one was the best I've ever read! This is a love story of the truest kind. It goes back and forth from Amelia's point of view to Emma's as we find out Amelia's journey to America. It brought tears to my eyes as I'm Jewish so I could totally relate. This book was something a little different than what I have been used to with Shari Ryan's books and I will admit I was a little hesitant to read it, not knowing what to expect and if it would be something I would enjoy. Wow, just wow! This book was amazing, it truly was an emotional, powerful, heart wrenching but beautiful read. The non-fiction part is really heartbreaking to read at times, but it's a story that needs to be told and never forgotten. The fiction part is beautifully written, I loved Emma, I was so pleased she left her bad relationship behind and gave Jackson a chance ( with a little help from Amelia!) I, like Jackson, couldn't wait to read more from Amelia's diary. I really felt as if I was there ...more

If I could give this book 100 stars, I would. It was such a touching story that was also based on true history. It approached a subject that many authors wouldn’t write about, the Holocaust, and made it a story with heart. I especially appreciated the way the story seamlessly flowed between current time and the past by using a journal. I think it adequately gave insight into what happened in that horrible part of history, but there was also a deeper, more hopeful message. Even in a time of great ...more

5+ Never Ending Love Stars

Wow! This was a hauntingly beautiful story—one I know I’ll never forget.
The Notebook kind of good, and I don’t make that comparison lightly!

This book was written in a way I don’t see often; it was like getting two different love stories in one.

The first story is more of a slow burn, due to unavoidable circumstances. It takes place in unimaginable conditions, and during the worst of circumstances! It depicts love in its most precious and rarest form, full of loyalty a

Last Words is an emotional novel. I knew it would be before I turned to the first page, and throughout this intricately woven story, author Shari Ryan plucked at my heartstrings while skillfully urging me to read on. Once I began reading, I had to know how the book was going to end. From start to finish, this book was absolutely riveting.

There are no words to try to convey to you the depth of my love for this story. Shari is such an amazing writer - she is able to capture your heart and your attention from the very first words and then she keeps you engaged and enthralled the entire time. There is absolutely no amount of amazing words I could possibly use, in any language, to describe Shari Ryan's new release Last Words and still do this deeply moving, thought provoking love story justice.
