This is one heck of a story that was originally done in two parts, and I could see why. It is a long read but also a very good read and one that held my interest throughout.
Over all I really enjoyed the story but did become irritated by the repetitiveness of the ‘I’m not worthy’ storyline. To be honest I’m surprised Erik didn’t dump Sam, he put up with a lot of wavering and distrust from her. That said I could totally understand Sam’s lack of self-worth, and I did genuinely like her as a character. I just felt that some themes were repeated just a little too often.
The entire book is written from Sam’s POV but I still felt like we got to know Erik quite well too. He was a very kind, caring hero and also strong, not an alpha male but thankfully not a doormat either. I found the main characters to both be likeable and believable. In fact the whole story was one that felt very genuine and real. I really liked that this isn’t an ‘insta-love’ story and that the relationship grew and developed in a very natural way, over a very realistic time frame.
The story touches on some dark themes that could be triggers for some, most of them have happened in the past but a couple do occur during the stories time line.
The book is well written, there are a lot of characters who are all well rounded and bring depth to the story. The pace was good and there are plenty of unexpected twists to the plot. One towards the end regarding a conversation between David and Erik seemed at odds with what had been suggested in the storyline earlier, but wasn’t a huge issue. (Sorry it’s vague but any more detail would make it a spoiler!).
Great story, didn't want to put it down through the weekend!!! It keep me on the edge as I was reading. The characters of Sam and Erik are well developed, creative, yet scared Sam and kind-hearted doctor Erik with loving twin sister by his side. I felt like I was with Sam, waiting for the drama with her ex to implode. As her relationship with the seemingly perfect doctor Erik slowly grows into a loving relationship since Erik seems to know and see that Sam is so skiddish. While having every reason to be skiddish and depend on nobody but herself, Sam's stubborn acceptance of Erik and he's forever patience is well rewarded finally. I couldn't help but feel for both Sam and Erik as Sam naviagates a new world where she has people she can depend on, that she's not alone to fight against the world.
I recieved this ARC, for a voluntary and honest review
Part two of Finding Sam continues the story of Sam and Erik, and the emotional road to recovery from a life of abuse and destruction. Ms Durano clearly brings out that healing from any form of abuse or addiction starts with a decision and the only person who can make that decision is the person themselves. Both Sam and Erik have secrets and issues that they have to work through. As they go through the push and pull of building a new relationship with one another, they both have to learn to trust and let go of old hurts. They are bombarded with past unhealthy relationships that hamper their progress, but ultimately they learn that together they can overcome anything that life throws at them. I can't help loving Sam and Erik is every women's hero. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Sam and Erik have a long road ahead of them to make it to their HEA. Her abusive ex is still harassing her, and even Erik's past has come back to haunt him. Sam has had a hard life, but with Erik's help, she's healing and learning to trust. If only she would completely open herself up to love, she'd finally see herself happy for the first time.
Finding Sam will tug at your heartstrings. It's fully emotional, still bleak as it was in Part 1, but all the more beautiful for it. Liz Durano never shies away from the hard stuff. She takes two beautiful characters, puts obstacles galore in their paths and makes them strong enough to overcome those obstacles. Thank you Liz, for this beautiful, emotional story.
Sam has been escaping what life has dumped on her all her life from her abysmal childhood to her abusive ex and is looking forward to starting over with her son and focusing on her art.
Erik is the doctor who was first attracted to her art but he quickly realized that his feelings ran much deeper.
Sam has emotional scars from her past but Eric is so patient and understanding as he tries to include her in his family and tries to show her that not only is she worthy of love but she deserves it. Will he be able to convince her or will she just assume that he will hurt her and leave her like everyone else in her life?
The drama continues with Sam and Erik. Sam has begun to trust and love again with someone from Erik's past comes back with a roar. A dark story of abuse and the long road to recovery. Eric is the doctor who became attracted to her art and then her. He's so understanding, loving and patient with her. A heartwarming, emotional story to read. We realize that our emotional scars do so deep and it's such a struggle for so many. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Good, suspenseful continuation of Sam's and Erik's romance with lots of twists. Both Erik and Sam keep secrets and have problems opening up and trusting each other. All part one characters are back and a blast from Sam's past becomes a central figure in Sam finally facing her inferiority complex. Believable, flawed characters facing obstacles to achieve their satisfying ending.
I received an advance copy of this book at no cost from the author. This is my voluntary and honest review.
4 1/2 stars for both books,Finding Sam 1 and 2.Very emotional story about Sam whose had an abusive ex husband and a hard life.Erik is her chance at happiness but the road to get there is long and hard.Sam has to learn to trust and after what she went through she is not worthless. Erik is a patient man and Sam is worth the fight.Really believable characters and true to life situations make these books worth reading.I read this book as an arc and this is my honest opinion.
This conclusion of Sam's story is beautiful. I couldn' put this book down until I finished reading it, even though it was a long read. I really enjoyed the story of Sam and Erik, and how they managed to make their relationship work, even with all the difficulties they faced along the way. The characters are very well developed and the story is very real. It's a great story and I highly recommend the reading. I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
Predictable, but good. It needs a lot of editing. Grammatically and spelling errors. The ending was a little off for me the character David, changed too abruptly, in my opinion. Leaving me with unanswered questions.
Very emotional. Glad they got their happy ending even if they had to go thru hell to get it. I received an arc copy to review and this is my voluntary review.
Liz Durano does it again! Part two of Finding Sam is just as emotionally charged as the first part! Sam finally finds who she's meant to be and her inner strength comes to the fore! Her relationship with Erik helps her to heal but also to finally love herself and others! Fantastic read that needs to come with a tissue warning!
Finding Sam is an emotional story. I had read In His Heart first so I had an idea of Sam and Erik but I would definitely read Finding Sam first. Erik is swoon worthy and Sam finally stands up for herself. The past will bite them in butt but together they might be able to overcome it. I love Sam and Erik's characters, I still want more of their story. I definitely got emotional reading. I am looking forward to more of Liz's books.
I really enjoyed reading Finding Sam by Liz Durano. It feels odd to say I enjoyed reading something with such a heavy story line, but the way she wrote it made it very real and it connected to me as a reader without being too overwhelming. I'm fairly new to this author, I've read a few of her other books and I've found a nice freshness in her writing style and they way she develops her characters and plot lines. The stories are unique and well written and I will continue to look for her future books. I read this book in exchange for an honest review, but I would gladly recommend it and her other books to anyone looking for something new and fresh in the contemporary romance genre. My only suggestion is that you read this one first before you read "In his Heart" as this introduces us to characters that are also in that one. Happy Reading...enjoy!
