Mildly interesting. Followed by a unique idea of how society works. Followed by a sudden overwhelming rush of... Philosophy?.. mysticism?...
I mostly didn't like this. At least once Magic came alive and started controlling everyone. The story itself became entrapped by dread. The story slowed down so the readers could feel disturbed alongside the protagonist. At the same time nothing significant happened, because there was nothing that could be done.
