Not Wanting a Thing to Be The Thing by Mitzi J. Smith honestly hit me in a way I didn’t expect. It’s her stroke memoir, but it’s not depressing or overly dramatic it’s real, raw, and actually pretty inspiring. She talks about her experience with this kind of quiet honesty that makes you stop and think about how fragile and unpredictable life can be. What I loved most is that she doesn’t try to make herself seem perfect or strong all the time she just tells the truth, even the uncomfortable parts. And somehow, that makes the moments of hope and humor feel even more genuine. It’s beautifully written but still super accessible like a conversation, not a lecture. It’s one of those memoirs that stays with you not because it’s dramatic, but because it’s honest and funny as well. I’m really glad I read it, never finished a book so fast before.
