Solid young adult fiction set in Texas and with a few spins. Solid dialogue and well-formed characters.

This book is another poorly-written attack on the independence of girls and the hoary belief that girls aren't interesting or competent enough on their own merits.

My in-coming grade 9 students had to endure this for their summer read and almost to a person, they were disappointed in the lack of complexity, simplicity of vocabulary and lack of credulity this book presented.

Josie is another "Stargirl" type of "heroine", a misfit with lousy parents and surprise! One Boy Who Can Save Her!
