Recently read all five books in this series. Basically each is a how-to of tips for post-apocalyptic survival woven together into storylines about a man (Morgan) and his family (wife and three daughters); a man (Thad) and a young girl (Jess) whose families have all died/been murdered; and a gnarly old ex-soldier (Sarge) with a small crew of other ex-soldiers.

The titles really tell the essence of each book. In the first, Going Home, the country is subjected to the collapse of the entire power gr

This is the fifth book in the Survivalist series so it obviously has a following. I received an advance copy through Penguin's First to Read program.

This was the first book I have read in this series and I felt a bit lost at the beginning. I had no knowledge of what went before and perhaps there should have been a forward or short synopsis for those who couldn't remember or started in the middle.

The characters are well drawn and interesting. I liked the writing style but because I hadn't read

This survivalist series was a bit annoying as it based most of conspiratorial plot on the government getting people dependant on the state. After people needed welfare, food stamps, assistance in any form they were somehow not as worthy to freedom and would blindly comply with the government. This political philosophy is wrong in my eyes, but there are some that believe this. This is just a story and I enjoy the DHS jokes. The book has spelling errors and is not a mainstream published book. I li ...more

Number 5 was a little uninspiring although it is good to see some stability in the daily lives of the merry band of survivors.

The family/neighborhood will always have problems cropping up, but with the addition of Sarge and his crew, security should become more consistent.

This is a good stopping point for me. The big question still remains: what caused the problem - a natural occurrence or a sinister conspiracy?

So I'm WAY into this series and enjoying them, however, Just like the first three, I loved them for the general concept and education I received. The writing of the story was good too, but the dialogue is awful. There were a lot of typos. ...more

Book 5 of the Going home series, and it is still going strong. The story line is a medium paced plot, but does not bog down. New challenges await the group of preppers as well as the military types. Enough going on to keep the interest up, and the series going

Book #1 is mainly about him getting home. Book #2 is mainly about them surviving their neighborhood. Book #3 is mainly about them surviving in the woods. Book #4 is about them surviving the DHS camp nearby. This one is mainly about them surviving a huge forest fire.

Continuing to witness the bravery, persistence, and ingenuity of Morgan and his family and community made book 5 as exciting as the rest.
Just as good as the first 4! Kept me on my toes until the end with regards to the fire.

A great book

Ok,ok... maybe this was the slowest of the series so far. I am sure I am not the first to say it. The book ended on a high note. I am sure the next will be crazy.

I can’t wait until I begin the next one! Readers become increasingly drawn into Morgan’s world. The story continues, and I can’t wait until beginning the next one!

I liked book five but it is less active than the previous books in the series. Not boring, just not as exciting. Still worth the read.

Overall, Resurrecting Home is a good read and I'll keep pushing forward with the rest of the series - for the fourth time. Yes, you read that right.

When it comes to a book series, I feel that it is wrong to judge a book individually. Each book is just a small piece of the pie. With every story, there are going to be parts of the story that you like and parts that you don't like. You have to judge the series as a whole. The "Home" series by A. American is an exceptional series. The characters are believable and the author portrays them in a way that has you longing for the next book before you even start reading the current book. This fifth book in the incredible 'Survivalist Series' in a very welcome addition. The main characters continue in their efforts to bring about a safe and defendable place to survive with their families and friends. The writing just helps bring the reader closer to each character and empathize with the challenges.

The story begins by setting out what is the current situation for various groups before accelerating into a non-stop pace that does not stop. Just when you think they have met enough s
