Kill, Sleep, Repeat Volume II is a high-stakes, addictive thriller, pulling readers deeper with every page, unraveling shocking secrets up to the final explosive twist. Perfect for fans of Karin Slaughter and Gillian Flynn, this is a story of deadly devotion, twisted bonds, and the haunting cost of family secrets.
Britney King lives Texas with her family, two literary dogs, one ridiculous cat, and a partridge in a pear tree.
When she’s not wrangling these characters, Britney crafts psychological, domestic, and romantic thrillers that dive deep into the complexities of human nature.
Charlotte works for an agency that assigns her targets. After the situation with her husband Michael Charlotte decided to teach her oldest daughter Sophie how to become an assassin. Mothering two daughters as an assassin isn’t quite the same without her husband. In fact, the youngest was sent to a London private school. Better to keep her safe and away from the assignments. … Bring your daughter to work day brings on a whole new meaning when Sophie watches her mother kill people for a living. Sophie said she wanted this life, this world. Charlotte didn’t drag her into it. Charlotte is doing the best she can as a teacher. She knows this lifestyle isn’t for everyone. … Hayley hasn’t been exposed to the lifestyle, yet she shows signs of having killer thoughts. Hayley doesn’t like being left in London away from her mother and sister. … Britney King wrote an enticing synopsis with a great concept. I liked the idea of a mother daughter duo working together as assassins. Kill, Sleep, Repeat volume 2 contains graphic, bloody and violent scenes. The story is about unraveling secrets in this dark world where people wear masks hiding who they truly are by blending in with the rest of the world. I’m curious to understand why Sophie and Hayley don’t refer to Charlotte as mom. Charlotte might hold the title of mom, but she doesn’t prioritize being a mother. Instead she works and she kills. … Charlotte’s character is an interesting one. The way she tackles her targets leaves something to be desired. She shows no emotion and no hesitation. I have questions about the agency and the assigned targets. I found the killings to be very clinical. I was expecting more Dexter style. It bothered me that Charlotte didn’t ask questions about the targets. The assassin aspect felt like a sideshow when factoring in the mentoring process with her daughter. Volume 2 focused more on educating Sophie on the steps and rules of being an assassin. I felt detached from the process.
Really, I’d prefer dinner over murder, but what can you do?
My throat tightens. It feels like I’m choking on all the lies I haven’t told yet.
My Review:
It's another taut, terse, and heavily barbed thriller from the dynamic Britney King. I so enjoy her snarky wit and dark sense of humor. The characters found between the covers of this book were of the most annoying variety, I despaired of them, but I didn’t mind at all that they were disposing of even worse examples of humanity. The plot was fast-paced, highly active, and thrummed with tension.
I must admit to probable cognitive decline in my advancing years as I struggled more than a bit with this one as I felt at sea in trying to remember even fragments of the first installment from 5 years ago... I’ve slept since then. The little pea in my brain just shrugged at my probes for recollection. A self-frustrated and huffed surrender mid-way through for a quick retread of volume one helped immensely. I would highly recommend reading volume one before plunging into volume two.
The best so far and if you've read any of Britneys previous work you know that's a high bar to beat.
Charlotte is training Sophie in the family business and is a hit, I mean an actuall hit as in well the clues in the title. The rules are the same the work the same but now she's having to carry her daughter whose a teenager in an adult world (not that it's the same as most adults admittedly) but mistakes breaking the rules Charlotte's given her are costly. There are several great characters including Carlos (maybe not a great person) and Hayley she's absolutely great.
The storyline is like nothing you may have read before the action is intense the storyline moves along well you will not be bored that's for sure. Britney has shown once again why she's the Queen of Physiological Thrillers this is the best I've read that's saying something I've read all her others and over 900 other books. In my view this is going to blow your minds why only 5 stars for what is a master piece is it time. Simply the Best. Shame they only allow 5
Sucked in from the beginning! This is one twisted & compelling ride you will not want to set aside! I loved getting to peek into the psyche of Sophie & Hayley. There are plenty of dangerous, high-risk adventures & deadly moments in this stand-alone novel. You do not need to have read the 1st book to enjoy this one. However, this 2nd volume ties into the 1st book perfectly. I recommend them both! The ending is complete, yet there is room for Volume 3. Britney King is exceptional in offering unique stories that capture you from the beginning, surprise you throughout, & leave you craving more!
This is the second book in this awesome series. Charlotte has groomed her daughter Sophie to take over the family business, and they share an unbreakable bond. When enemies close in this due must confront a betrayal from within. This is a well written story which is easy to read, action packed, with loyalty, emotions, danger, suspense, intrigue, tension, betrayal, revelations, and thrilling, which leads to an entertaining, tragic, twisted, unpredictable, dark humor, and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Britney King never disappoints her readers. With Kill, Sleep Repeat Volume 2, we know see Charlotte as a mother to two daughter but her older daughter Sophie is her protege and she has a younger daughter Hayley. This is an assassin family. WOW what a wild read this was. Read it in one sitting with a major twist in the end. I absolutely loved this book as I love all of Britney King's books.
