The Case of the missing Mayan Codices

"I do not suppose that you have brought your revolver with you Watson?"
I shook my head to indicate that my response was in the negative to his question. He turned his head forward again and led us through the kitchen, past several side pantries. As we cautiously inched forward, Holmes observed that the blood trail consisted of droplets of varying size. "Whomever it came from, they must have been applying intermittent pressure on the wound as they walked."

Sixth in a string of new short stories set in the late 19th century, no fictional character is more renowned for his powers of thought and observation than Sherlock Holmes.

The Case of the Missing Mayan Codices is a tight, concise tale that takes entirely before breakfast on a single morning. Told through the eyes of the dependable sidekick Watson, it follows the titular Sherlock Holmes as he ferrets out a case of deception and conspiracy that he himself was an unknowing participant in.

While the story itself has all the breakneck pacing and tight turns that have come to mark Ms. Cartawick's stories, the real draw to this one is the language employed. Vibrant and descriptive, it paints a vivid image of London at the turn of the century, drawing the reader in and leaving them wanting more.

This is the second book I’ve read by Pennie Mae’s in her Sherlock Holmes mystery series and again I am impressed. I am so happy to see that there is more in the series for me to read. Pennie Mae’s writing style is captivating and will keep you hooked until that last word. If you’re looking for a thrilling story, written in a creative way, that all comes together in the end, then look no further than this book and the rest of the Sherlock Holmes mystery series books. This book and the series will entertain you again and again. Very good book!
