Cocoa with Krampus: Book 1

Rate this book
My best friend tells me everything.

She warned me I shouldn't stay in New York for the imminent holiday season. She also said my supervisor is a jerk. What she didn’t tell me is that the evil King of Christmas is real.

I don't believe in magic, let alone Santa.

On the night of the anniversary of losing my mother, I'm invited to dinner with my sleazy boss who just cannot take a hint. After escaping his entitled, wandering hands I find myself wrapped in the comforting, protective arms of the holiday bad boy himself, Peter Krampus.

Will his abilities scare me away? Or will I learn that true love, and Christmas miracles, do exist?

How could something move so fast and yet so slow and still end on the silliest cliffhanger ever?! I am fighting demons rn (not the Christmas kind)

Cocoa With Krampus

This felt like a very unique idea and by an author I'd not read before.

I enjoyed the characters, I felt they were written in a way that made them likable and intriguing.

But overall the story confused me in sections. Sometimes it seemed to be so much information or events happening.

By this time I'd already read over half and I wanted to see how this would end.

But without giving spoilers the story ends up in the air. Not really a big cliffhanger but it requires you to read the next book if you want to see what happens.

As I didn't fully enjoy this one I don't know whether I would continue the series. I do definitely think it's an interesting idea for a book though, so for the right reader this will be a good choice.

I'm kinda just disappointed as this didn't meet my expectations/hopes. I was expecting this to be a cosy romance, with sweet romance and no suspense or anything after the initial conflict with the fmc's boss — based on the title and the original cover when I got this (it has since changed, not on my ereader but I can see online now there is a new cover which has less cosy implications, but still the title keeps its implications). There were a couple of cosy scenes, but they were over powered by the other scenes. And my final disappointment was the cliffhanger and lack of a HEA. If I had gone in with different expectations, I would have enjoyed this more, but I was just left disappointed.

I greatly enjoyed this novel!
I've read Nattie Rhodes before and enjoyed her writing so was looking forward to seeing more again.
Honestly, I wasn't sure what I was expecting.
But I was pleasantly surprised by the banter in this story. The world building was cute. The depth and how flawed our main characters are, is so refreshing.

I'm about to pick up the next book!

I greatly appreciate receiving this from the Author.

Just meh...parts were entertaining, and parts were repetitive and boring.

Also, if you want to HATE Santa...this is perfect.

Novella isn't necessary, includes the torture stuff and extra Santa hating.

Content warnings: torture, attempted SA, attempted drugging, drug use, loss of loved one, grief, death

My rating: 3/5

Spice: 3/5

This one had a really intriguing premise and such a solid start. I mean, girl trying to get away from sleazy boss. Meet cute with a hot guy in a coffee shop after she steals his hat only for him to kiss her to hide her face from said sleazy boss. Classic! A night of spontaneity where she discovers her savior that she’s attracted to is actually a demon, Krampus himself (though he goes by Peter, which definitely gave me Month Python and the Holy Grail vibes when that one character goes “You may call me…Tim”). Like such an interesting setup.

Only the more I read, the more baffled I became. It could be because I’ve been reading a lot of holiday themed books lately or just me not connecting with the story. Whatever the case, I was left so confused by that somewhat abrupt ending. I know there’s more to the series technically but the bafflement is steering me elsewhere for now. Still giving a decent rating because the lore was interesting and everything up until maybe the last third or so of the book had my interest but 🤷🏼‍♀️

Every one should fall in love over cocoa

I honestly never thought that I would find a book where I would fall in love with Krampus. I think this is a wonderful twist on the myths and legends and an adorable start to a romance.

more feelings than I expected

This story had so much more feeling than I expected, Peter is complex and interesting and the story is intense. I didn’t like the ending though

It's a fast read and a slow burn

You get a lot of questions, but not a lot of answers. I love Krampus, but Tieran is annoying. Hopefully, she figures her stuff out in book 2.
