I never asked for this power. It overtook me centuries ago, and I’ve been lost to time ever since that very first warp to a new dimension.
Now, I never age, I always escape, and I’m only getting stronger as the decades pass.
But I sure as hell don’t have the patience for sidekicks. So when a gorgeous, supersonic, and unbelievably twisted woman suddenly forces me off my homeplanet, I end up understandably tense.
Luckily, the vast dimensions offer plenty of chaos to keep people like us entertained.
And something about rooting out otherworldly villains just seems to bring out my devious side.
So I may as well unleash my own personal brand of wrath on these wannabe villains and show them how it’s really done.
Eric vall makes some of the best worlds an author in his genre can make I’ve read almost all of his series and I have to say I really didn’t enjoy this one. The Mc seemed shallow and I don’t think that was by design. The love interest was boring to the point I’m sure he watched Batman and took all the worst parts of Harley Quinn and vomited them on the page. It’s kinda sad really I get that the authors been going a bit more dark with his stories and they are his stories but I really really don’t like that. I am sure someone does though since he keeps going back to that style. Just not for me I may have to switch up my authors cut him out of the to be read list until he snaps back to what made him so great
So yeah...let's start with the Crazy. I honestly debated between 4 or 5 stars with this book as I'm not too sure what to think of the MCs crazy travel companion. She starts off annoying but slowly gets better as you read the book. Still had an annoying edge to her, but getting better so I'm curious to see how things go.
Other than that... The book is utter chaos and mayhem, in the best way. Jump dimensions, get your bearings, find the meanest, most vile person in the dimension and wreck havoc on their operation.
I'm unusual approach and one I'm curious enough to stick around for. Especially with the twist ending.
Very disappointing. Way below Eric's usual standard. Much of the issue was simply due to the secondary MC being a Harley Quinn knock off. I hope this is the last of this series as Eric's time will be better spent in another direction.
Difficult start to a new series. Two supervillians weird worlds including Earth. Slight action until 2/3 of the way through the book. Then all hell breaks loose for fairly satisfying ending. Will probably give the next one a read to see if it gets better.
Pretty enjoyable read. Liked the grumpier style for the Mc. His ability was pretty interesting and hopefully learn more about it and his past experiences later.
A different twist of an adventurer. Lots of magic, technology, time travel, dimensional travel, drugs, violence, drama, and romance. Eager to read next book in series.
This book did not work for me. I found it boring and duplicative throughout. Really no character development that counted for anything. Just not my cup of tea.
This book was fun, and has a top tier cover. Lu, the woman pictured, is such a fun and unique character. She sort of balances this level of craziness that’s attractive. It’s almost more feisty and fiery.
The book though, our main character develops a super power where he’s super strong but more than that is able to portal to other dimensions (though a time skip occurs every time he portals - the downside of the power). The book opens with him being a former super villain that has mostly phased into more of a retirement state, tired of being chased by the authorities. He ends up being more of an anti-hero type character than really a villain at this stage in his life. As the book plays out, we get a little bit of the Borderlands vibe with some super crazy and absurd weapons, and Lu would totally fit in as a Borderlands character. No vaults or anything like that but more crazy weapons and characters is where the Borderlands vibe comes from. You even get the tease that Eric Vall may be leaning into this even more for a sequel given the way he ends the novel with the introduction of an Elvish/Dryad Poison Ivy-esque character. The main villain is very Bond-esque from his design and portrayal. Kind of wish we got a little more of him. This one is more of a sci-fi fantasy type novel with emphasis on super powers, crazy weapons, and alternative worlds. I definitely think everyone should give this one a try if you like Eric Vall, Logan Jacobs, and Michael Scott Earle books. I hope this will have a trajectory like Lottery King and gain a lot of momentum and world building as the series goes on.
