This is a handy little guide that fits perfectly in a pocket of a jacket or bag. I rarely travel these days without a DK Eyewitness travel guide, as I find that they're the best-organised of all the travel guides I've used, and they suit my needs perfectly.

Despite the small size, there's a surprising amount of sights packed into this book. I marked seven or eight pages that looked particularly interesting (and managed to get to most of them during my three-day stay). The size of the book precludes in-depth information, and the pictures aren't as great as they would be in a larger guide, but in Copenhagen I've found that almost all the tourist attractions give out leaflets about their history, so I'm quite happy without that extra info in the guidebook.

Like all DK Eyewitness guides - at least all the ones I have - there are fold-out maps in the back that cover public transport as well as a street map for the city centre and a more basic map of the surrounding areas. With the help of these maps, I found getting around on public transport to be a breeze - over my three-day stay I've taken perhaps twenty trains and metros and haven't got lost once. (Copenhagen's train system can be a little confusing, with several different types of train, so a map is really a must for visitors who expect to use public transport.)

DON'T buy this guide if:

~ You want to read about things in detail before you travel;

~ You prefer guides with lots of pictures;

~ You want to go to plenty of out-of-the-way places - this guidebook mostly focuses on the popular tourist attractions, though it has a LOT of them.

DO buy this guide if:

~ You're visiting for a short trip;

~ You want to keep your bag light;

~ You want hundreds of different places to choose from;

~ You want a basic, easy-to-read book that provides you the necessary information to get around the city with confidence.
