Good girl Anna Maloy has always been drawn to the wrong kind of guy—and if anybody fit that definition, it was Drew Whitman: her boyfriend’s best friend.
So when Anna breaks things off with her boyfriend of seven years, her newly minted ex does the logical thing: He asks Drew to keep an eye on her.
Drew Whitman has never understood the hype about monogamy. He’s never even been tempted. Well, maybe, just that once—but as a loyal best friend, he’s chosen to forget all about that past and enjoy a life of self-indulgence and instant gratification.
Until he’s practically forced into her life, that is. He does his best to ignore—well, everything about Anna Maloy, as he’s done the last seven years. But the more time he spends with her, the harder it gets—especially when she’s the one crossing the line.
Michelle has been an avid reader for as long as she can remember, and it was her love of reading that led her to want to become a writer. She lives in Michigan with her husband and their one year old son (as well as the crazy cat), with whom she loves spending her free time laughing until she cries. Whenever she can find a bit of time to spare, she enjoys watching a few of her favorite TV shows.
Loved this book. After reading a highly emotional book (aka one that made me cry), I needed something light. Then I remembered a friend recommending this to me and saying it was funny.
And it was exactly what I needed. I loved the animosity then friendship between Drew and Annabelle. They had me cracking up. I loved the banter between them. And I loved the chemistry they had. Even when they got together, they still fought their attraction and desire to be together. But it worked.
I loved the little flashbacks and pieces of history that the characters had. It just added to the connection.
My one issue was the way they came back together after they split up. Drew made a huge gesture and Annabelle ignored it. And then it was too quick when they did get together again. They saw each other and ran to each other and HEA. I just wish Anna had done something to show Drew that she did want him.
But other than the quick resolution, I loved this. Especially the explanation of Drew’s nickname Annabelle; that just made my heart melt.
Anna's unhappy with her current long term, long distance relationship of 6 years and decides to break up with Jeff the night he proposes. Jeff still cares about Anna and asks his best friend Drew to check up on her... and they embark on a platonic friendship, which eventually turns into a friends with benefits arrangement. The chemistry's there, but we also learn that Drew's a commitment phobe who only does one night stands, no relationships and Anna's a relationship kind of girl even though she's not ready for another one quite yet. Drew also never mentions to Jeff that there's more to his friendship with Anna than just checking up on her either.
This is a typical story with an awful ending. where the H and h form feelings for each other but don't bother communicating them; where they don't know how to say I love you - and NEVER do (I hate that); where in a convoluted climax, both Anna and Drew are willing to walk away from each other just to save the friendship between Jeff and Drew (HUH?); where he makes a public plea to meet her and she doesn't go (interesting); and where 3 MONTHS (what?) pass before running into each other in Chicago where she's doing a gallery showing and coincidentally they find each other again??
This book was also fraught with typos and wrong word choice (e.g. "conscious" when it should be "conscience") and the ending was so rushed, I didn't realize it was the end. This also needed an epilogue.
I picked this up during a free promotion and found I could not put it down. It is a delightful romance. I normally like my romance with a bit higher heat level, but the wonderful connections between the characters really kept my attention.
The story centers around Anna, who breaks off her long term relationship with Jeff. Jeff, who lives in another city, asks his best friend, Drew, to keep tabs on his ex. Drew and Anna grow into a strong friendship and soon are attracted to each other. The obvious issue is that neither wants to hurt Jeff. But more than that, Anna doesn't want to come between the friends.
I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it if you are looking for a great romantic read.
Picked this up as a freebie on Amazon, and what a awesome find!! Loved Anna & Drew's story and thought the storyline was spot on!!! Love that it was one book with no cliffhanger...just a happily ever after!! Would highly recommend:))
I really enjoyed this. Got it as a freebie on BookBub. A tale of boy(Drew) sees girl(Anna), kisses then loses her to his friend. Same girl dumps the friend and tries to move on. In steps Drew to be her friend. Throw in a community center, younger sister and grandmother and these were the ingredients for a sweet story of finding your hearts passion.
This was a very enjoyable story to read. Didn't want to put it down until I reached the very end. Still don't actually, I would have loved to have read more about these characters. Cute, sweet, and sexy little story. Would definitely like to read more by this author. :)
