An interesting way to include math and Filipino familial practice in a children's book. Lola Puti is a story between a grandson and his grandmother, couple with the idea of assisting his grandmother with her growing number of white hairs. Mathematical equations fill the boy's mind when he needs to figure out how many hairs he has pulled and how much he can earn. The story ends with both grandson and grandmother exhibiting a great relationship over the summer that they've spent together. ...more

I love this book! What an incredible way to teach math to a child. I love the little math problem that the character solves while trying to help out her grandma pluck her white hairs. There's honestly a few more lessons in the book, that I'd rather not spoil. But definitely include this in your Filipino children's bookshelf. ...more
