This book is a continuation of Leggett's first book Helping Ourselves. Once you have read Helping Ourselves, this book goes into a little more depth on the principles used to understand your constitution and how to prescribe food to yourself to support your constitution. This book helped solidified some concepts I'm learning in a course on Chinese Medicine, but it doesn't seem to stand alone as a resource to learn which foods will support your own particular imbalances; I feel like I need to read the author's "Helping Ourselves" to become more familiar with the energetics of a wider range of foods. ...more
I bought this on recommendation from my acupuncturist/nutritionist. Following the guidelines based on my diagnosis, I was able to reverse some of my digestion problems with the guidance of this book. The recipes are very good and clearly specify which diagnosis the meals target. I highly recommend it.
