This book is a continuation of Leggett's first book Helping Ourselves. Once you have read Helping Ourselves, this book goes into a little more depth on the principles used to understand your constitution and how to prescribe food to yourself to support your constitution. I like this book because having that little extra understanding helps you apply the knowledge in your every day life. There are a lot of interesting recipes in this book. This book helped solidified some concepts I'm learning in a course on Chinese Medicine, but it doesn't seem to stand alone as a resource to learn which foods will support your own particular imbalances; I feel like I need to read the author's "Helping Ourselves" to become more familiar with the energetics of a wider range of foods. ...more

I bought this on recommendation from my acupuncturist/nutritionist. Following the guidelines based on my diagnosis, I was able to reverse some of my digestion problems with the guidance of this book. The recipes are very good and clearly specify which diagnosis the meals target. I highly recommend it.
