This book is intended to pick up where the core rulebook for Runequest leaves off. Though the core rulebook provides everything absolutely necessary to play RuenQuest, players and Games Masters alike will find that the RuneQuest Companion is a valuable addition to play. The RuneQuest Companion expands on some of the rules from the core rulebook and also offers a large number of new rules for use in the game. Within this book, players will discover the secrets of the spirit world and how to handle spirit combat in RuneQuest - and they will also learn the process of creating permanent items of magical power. There are also rules for making a living while inside a city, as well as covering a wide variety of topics important to the adventurer who finds himself between adventures.
A native Texan, Greg Lynch grew up in Dallas and has worked careers ranging from reporter to private detective to public relations, most of which involved shamelessly sticking his nose into other peoples’ business and writing about it.
Passionate about writing, Mexican food and college football, Greg lives in Dallas with his wife, his daughter and an assortment of animals.
It should be four stars. But this book should be bundled with the Core book. So one thing for the other.
This book completes the magic system familiar to players of the previous version, and in general completes all that information that was lacking in the core book.
The system is more elegant and simple than the previous ones, losing some grittiness along the way. I like it, as an alternative to the high fantasy/ high heroics systems around.
