When You Think You're Not Enough: The Four Life-Changing Steps to Loving Yourself

Rate this book
It’s time to stop feeling like we’re not enough. We’re either too fat or too thin. We're not good enough, pretty enough, popular enough, powerful enough, bold enough, brave enough, interesting enough... The solution? More self-love. Know yourself.  Bestselling author and psychotherapist, Daphne Rose Kingma, offers a four-step plan to reclaim and love ourselves. Complete with stories and examples to drown out the inner critic,  When You Think You’re Not Enough  sets out to remind us that we’re more than enough. Be nice to yourself.  If we’re being honest, we don’t take ourselves much into consideration. Acceptance, appreciation, respect, compassion… we reserve these virtues for others. Daphne reminds us that we need these to feel good too. It is only after we foster these in ourselves that we can apply it to a greater purpose. Inside, she’ll encourage you to love who you are, and look at and let go If you’re ready to start loving yourself, and enjoyed books like,  I Thought It Was Just Me (but it isn't) ,  More Than Enough , or  You Are Enough , then you’ll love  When You Think You're Not Enough .

It reads like a love letter from a good friend, and then it reads like notes from the people who Daphne has worked with over the years, and then again, it reads like an intimate guide with questions that help you target the issues you need to address and offers helpful guidelines for implementing change. For at the end of the day, change is what you need to implement if you want things to change for the better for you. She can't do it for you, but she's stood where you are standing and can give you encouragement to take the first steps.

I generally liked the book. It was a quick read and it had some good insights. However, I wish they would have been more profound. I felt like the 4 steps could have been described in more detail. They were helpful, but for me they were not something new that changed the way I feel about myself. I liked the real life examples, but again, I wish they would have been more detailed and in more depth.

This is very good, well written, and totally on topic....but somehow i feel like the last chapter is missing. Here's how you gain self esteem now go out there and do it!! I sort of feel lost in translation, wait, wheres the flow chart, i missed something i know it... i suspect like everything in life, it is more work than just reading a book. But what a fine book it was!
