This book is written with the care and attention an enthusiastic friend would provide when helping you learn something new. In addition to providing a review of the core events which led to the replication “crisis”, this work crucially discusses some of the most exciting developments recently made in scientific reform. This work provides skilful negotiation of many core and complex issues in science, with a particularly accessible approach to breaking things down - lots of subheadings means you can jump in and out on areas of interest (if you can put it down once you start - I didn’t manage it!). This is an excellent resource for those relatively new to the scientific way of thinking but it also signposts lots of further ideas, practices and principles to consider for the more experienced readers. I particularly enjoyed chapter one for providing a personal and relatable account of rediscovering what matters in science, and chapter four for providing such explicit and direct links between the open practices and their impact on the questionable researcher practices (and/or problems with current scientific norms) discussed earlier in the text. I have added this work to the reading lists of all the modules I teach. This work is sure to become the go-to introductory text for supporting students to engage with open science.

Nydelig introduksjon. Ikke så mye nytt for dem som har lest om åpen forskning og replikasjonskrisen andre steder, men boken har også en flust av resurser for videre fordypning. Kommer garantert til å kikke mye i denne fremover.

Such a great guide! I always love reading about the replication crisis but this book is unique in that it provides a way forward through open scholarship. Really recommend!
